Synopsis

The 17th summer, in a city. Cherry is a young boy who is bad with communication and always has headphones on to avoid being talked to. He expresses the feelings that he is unable to speak via his hobby, Haiku.

Smile is a young girl who wears a mask all the time to hide her big front teeth which are in the process of being corrected. She is a popular video creator and broadcasts videos of things that she finds "cute."

Cherry, who is unable to put his thoughts into words aside from Haiku, and Smile, who is unable to recover from her complex regarding her outer appearance meet in a shopping mall and slowly begin to converse via SNS.

One day, the distance between the two of them is closed drastically by a request from Fujiyama, an old man whom they met at work, to find a record of nostalgic value to him. The two of them set out to work together to grant his wish. However, something happens which changes the course of their feelings.

The climax of the story sees Cherry delivering a heart-felt straightforward and explosive message that will be ingrained as a memory of summer. The most emotional last scene that will leave its mark in the history of anime will be sure to move you!

A 17 year old, high school boy who enjoys Haiku as his hobby. He is bad at conversing with people but is good in expressing his feelings through Haiku. He uploads his own works in the short SNS format "curiosity." His complex is when he gets nervous, his face turns red and he is unable to speak properly. He works part-time at a day service shop: "Hidamari" in the nearby shopping mall.

Smile: Hana Sugisaki

A popular junior high school streamer who streams with the live streaming service "Curio Live". She is cheerful and loves to talk but hides her face behind a mask in front of people due to her complex about her large front teeth. While live streaming in the shopping mall, she bumps into Cherry, causing her mask to fall off and reveal her front teeth. This encounter deepens her relationship with Cherry.

Fujiyama: Koichi Yamadera

A Haiku master who often goes to "Hidamari". He is hard of hearing and has a loud voice. He always carries an empty record jacket on him and searches for its contents but he can't seem to remember where it is. It seems as though the record holds precious memories...

A cheerful Latin American teenager who is also Cherry's friend. He is good with reading but bad at writing Japanese. For the sake of studying, he likes to do graffiti with Cherry's haikus on the streets. They have a secret hang out spot on the rooftop of the shopping mall.
