Fall 2014 has been a great season for anime, and we wanted to recap by going over some of the coolest characters we’ve seen so far this season!
Some of these are those from recurring series, and some of them are from brand new shows or franchises. They toe the line from good-guy, to hero. A lot of different things make a character ‘cool’, whether it’s a slick look and personality, or sheer ability in battle, whatever it is, these guys are some of the coolest around!
5. Tigrevurmund Vorn from Lord Marksman and Vanadis (Madan no Ou to Vanadis)
Ned Stark of Game of Thrones fame can take a lesson from Tigrevurmund Vorn. Often called Tigre cause of his lengthy name, Tigre is a stereotypical good guy.
He’s a hero with a heart of gold, always doing the right thing. The difference is, Tigre is doing it all the while navigating a web of political intrigue and military conflict that’s threatened to destroy his homeland.
Tigre is the kind of guy who, in the midst of fighting a war where he’s outmanned and outgunned, he risks it all and diverts his forces, just to save a nearby region from a hostile foreign invasion.
What’s even cooler? Despite being outnumbered 10-1, Tigre wins. Tigre mixes traditional good-guy hero, with tactical genius and strategic mastery.
Oh, did we mention just about every girl in the show is into him, including powerful and beautiful war-maidens? You’re a lucky guy, lord Tigre!
4. Izumi Shinichi from Parasyte -the maxim- (Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu)
Izumi Shinichi is having a rough-go of things. Being infected by a parasite that gives him special powers, it forces him to play a double game of keeping his identity a secret, all the while trying to use his power to protect the world and the people he loves.
Shinichi feels compelled to fight other parasytes as they devour humans for food. Shinichi is the everyman who, despite being thrust into a nightmare situation, refuses to give up and ends up doing a lot of good for the world.
3. Seiya Kanie from Amagi Brilliant Park
Seiya Kanie’s name was actually designed with US rapper Kanye West in mind as a likeness, and Seiya certainly matches Kanye’s self-confidence that some say borders on arrogance.
Seiya is a brilliant high-school student with a good pedigree. He comes off initially as over-confident and self-indulged, and is disliked by a lot of his classmates because of it.
Eventually, Seiya overcomes this initial arrogance. He begins to successfully turn around Amagi Brilliant Park with his wits, intelligence and a new-found power that enables him to look into some ones heart and read their minds.
Seiya is a confident, smooth-talking guy who’s confident with the ladies, and ends up developing a heart of gold.
2. Favaro Leone from Rage of Bahamut Genesis (Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis)
Imagine Han Solo in a medieval fantasy world. You’ve got something pretty close to Favaro Leone. Favaro is the classic rogue who’s in it for himself but learns the merits of working with and fighting for other people, and good causes in general.
Starting the series off as a bounty hunter, Favaro pays no mind to the rigid hierarchies of the world including the aristocrats and knights who look down on him. Favaro goes his own way, collecting bounties to make a living.
Not especially powerful, Favaro relies on quickness, agility and his wit to survive in combat. To top it off, he’s got style galore and easily the best hair of any character from the fall of 2014!
1. Archer from Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works
Archer has become a full-on antagonist this season but still oozes cool. It’s revealed Archer has some ulterior motives, rather than just being a pure-villain, which just adds a little mystery flavor to his persona.
Archer was always an amazing character in the Fate/Stay Night series, and his switch to an antagonist just gives him a darker/edgier factor.
Archer became such a strong fighter not because he had power handed to him but because he trained himself to become better and stronger, and all the while using sound tactics to adapt to any challenge.
Well there it is! We hope you enjoyed reading our list for the 5 coolest heroes this season. Do you think we left someone off who should be included, maybe have someone there who shouldn’t? Or maybe you think someone should be higher or lower in the order? Sound off in the comment’s below and let us know what you’re thinking!
