It is such a wonderful blessing that otome games are making their way westward these days. Once a genre of games that relied solely on fan translations in the west, the popularity of otome games is booming now and western girls can anticipate the enjoyment of a good otome game every few months it seems. One such game this year that we found ourselves enjoying is Collar x Malice.
Collar x Malice is a great otome game fueled by mystery and intrigue outside of the usual romantic otome game routes. While you may start off playing just to foster romantic relationships with the man of your choosing, Collar x Malice manages to keep you playing for the plot alone. If you found yourself enjoying Collar x Malice as much as we did, well then, please hang tight because Honey’s Anime is bringing fans a list of great games like Collar x Malice. Why yes, this is our 6 games like Collar x Malice!

If what you liked about Collar x Malice was the story, then you’re in for a great one in Amnesia: Memories. Like Collar x Malice, the storyline changes depending on which route you are on and we’re not talking about slightly. The entire storyline is different minus the amnesia part. This gives Amnesia: Memories a lot of replay value as you will be invested in finding out what happens. Like Collar x Malice, there are also a lot of bad endings. One wrong turn and you could die instantly. While Amnesia: Memories may have a bit more focus on your relationship and where it turned sour than Collar x Malice, it’s still a great otome game to play. There’s something about otome games and mystery which makes for a great game. Like Collar x Malice, Norn9: Var Commons follows a rather strange course of events where the characters don’t know their purpose everything happening and you just have to play out the stories to find out the truth behind everything. However, Norn9: Var Commons has a great amount of focus on the romantic aspect of the game. In Norn9: Var Commons, you are able to pick from 3 different protagonists who each have their own love stories with potentially 3 different bachelors aboard the Norn. The story changes variably depending on whose path you choose to pursue and your life may be on the line in some paths much like Collar x Malice. One of the best features of Norn9: Var Commons is the ability to not play a generic main character with no personality as each of the three female leads has a different personality—some with more bite than others—so that you don’t have to be irritated by the lack of personality that some reverse harem main characters have, Altogether, the elements of Norn9: Var Commons makes a great otome game for any otome fanatic.
