1. Ore ga Ojousama Gakkou ni “Shomin Sample” Toshite Rachirareta Ken (I Was Abducted by an Elite All-Girls School as a Sample Commoner)

  • Authors: Nanatsuki, Takafumi- Uruu, Gekka

Hidden away in the depths of a mountain is a school filled with young women who are being trained and educated to be the best of the best in society. However, there has been problems with some of the graduates having problems adjusting to life once released into the normal world. Thus, the school higher ups decided what is needed is a male student to attend with the girls and help them at least understand how men work. Kagurazaka Kimito has been chosen—against his will seeing as how he’s been kidnapped—to go to this all girls school. The main reason though is the higher ups think Kimito isn’t into women but into other guys! Can Kimito survive in a school filled with beautiful but tough girls?!

We have to wonder here at Honey’s Anime if Kimito and Kyousuke are secretly both cursed. In Psycome, Kyousuke has been sent to a school with lovely girls—there are dudes there too though—who seem to like him but are secretly killers in disguise, while Kimito has been sent against his will to a school filled with girls in Ore ga Ojousama Gakkou ni “Shomin Sample” Toshite Rachirareta Ken. We loved Ore ga Ojousama Gakkou ni “Shomin Sample” Toshite Rachirareta Ken for its smart comedy narrative and equal amounts of romance and ecchi filled situations. Watching Kimito deal with pretending to be into dudes and deal with girls who aren’t afraid to be around him for that reason is just sheer comedy gold. Psycome and Ore ga Ojousama Gakkou ni “Shomin Sample” Toshite Rachirareta Ken might be done by different authors but these stories are very similar in nature and thus, why the latter is perfect to read for those missing Psycome. We fully recommend checking out Ore ga Ojousama Gakkou ni “Shomin Sample” Toshite Rachirareta Ken for some romance, comedy and harem brilliance in 12 great volumes.

Chidori ends up finding out that Sousuke was sent to her school in order to protect her from a rouge military organization that wants to use her for a hidden power she has. Now Chidori must endure the constant messes Sousuke causes her as well as a plot to use her to change the very structure of the world as a whole. What will cause Chidori annoyance more in Full Metal Panic! first?

Our list of 6 Light Novels Like Psycome is mostly orientated to guys who end up having their lives change with one random incident. Full Metal Panic! is a spin on that set up focusing on a female lead—in this case Chidori—who meets a guy who makes her life both interesting and also quite bothersome. Though we feel bad for Chidori’s new issues in the form of military nut Sousuke, we have to laugh at the problems that arise. Equally, Full Metal Panic! has a nice romance element to it that make us go aww and smile before then laughing because Sousuke did something over the top. Full Metal Panic! has plenty of drama too like Psycome with the only difference between both light novels being the mecha elements of Full Metal Panic! If you need a long light novel series with tons of comedy, drama, romance and some mecha action then check out Full Metal Panic!

3. Masamune-kun no Revenge (Masamune-kun’s Revenge)

  • Authors: Takeoka, Hazuki- Tiv

When Makabe Masamune was a kid, he was extremely overweight and unhappy with how people perceived him. Even worse was a young girl that was once Makabe’s friend made fun of him one day and caused Makabe to seek revenge. Going on a super diet and training hard with vigorous exercise, Makabe ends up becoming super handsome and a popular guy for his looks. Makabe’s goal is to find his old friend, make her fall in love with him and then break her heart. However, will Makabe’s plan work or will fate has something else in store for him?

Makabe Masamune had a plan to get his deserved revenge but in Masamune-kun no Revenge, his tale doesn’t end up panning out so simply. Due to the way the heart works, Makabe ends up going a very different route in this silly one volume rom-com. While Masamune-kun no Revenge is short, don’t let that stop you from reading it if you fancied Psycome and the random romance that occurs in that strange narrative. Plus, if you really need more of Masamune-kun no Revenge then you can always check out the anime series for some more laughs. Hopefully one day, we get more volumes of Masamune-kun no Revenge as we’d like to see the series continue on.

Instead of an all powerful being who was aware of his power, he sees before him a young student named Haruhi Suzumiya who loves to fight boredom and is completely unaware of her powers. Kyon is about to meet a time traveler, an esper and an alien as he finds himself forced to keep Haruhi entertained otherwise his world might be in serious trouble when she grows bored…

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu isn’t an unknown series in the anime community when it comes to fans that love sci-fi and comedy themed stories with a dash of drama and supernatural themes. However, we here at Honey’s Anime have occasionally run into some people who didn’t know it was a light novel series that began in 2003 and ended in 2011. Like Psycome, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu focuses on a male who has been thrown into a rather bizarre scenario having to please a fickle god who could destroy the world without even realizing it. We love Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu’s light novel series and we think you readers of Psycome will too. With an impressive cast of characters and a drama/comedy narrative that will leave you wanting more there isn’t any reason not try out Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu for yourself. Though we do wonder what Kyon and Kyousuke would discuss about the rather precarious situations they are a part of now.

5. Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. (In Another World With My Smartphone)

  • Authors: Fuyuhara, Patora- Usatsuka, Eiji
  • Genres: Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance, Harem
  • Volumes: 11

God is supposed to be someone who doesn’t make mistakes, right? Well tell that to high school student Touya Mochizuki who just died because of a mistake from the big man upstairs. Touya meets God face to face and to apologize for his outrageous mistake, God gives Touya a second lease on life. Beefing up his body and skill—as well as giving him a powerful smartphone upon request from Touya—he sends the young student to another world. In this fantasy world, Touya has access to a cellphone that can do it all and he plans on using this to explore his new life. Journey alongside Touya as he goes on a journey filled with action, discovery and tons of girls in Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni.

There’s an old saying out there that says something along the lines of dealing with the cards you dealt with in life. As silly as this quote seems, it’s true in many ways. For example, Kyousuke has deal with the fact he’s in a prison school filled with killers and Touya now has to get accustomed to being in a new world he’s completely unfamiliar with. That’s why both Psycome and Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. are very similar despite the latter being an isekai story. Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. will make you smile as you get a bit of fantasy, adventure and a decent amount of comedy. Touya might have more dangers to face in Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. but we do think he has it a bit better than Kyousuke ultimately.

6. Onegai Twins (Please Twins)

Apparently one of these girls is actually Maiku’s sister and the other possibly just a neighbor. Can Maiku solve this mystery of who is related to him? Is it the shy and quiet Miina Miyafuji or the more energetic spirit Karen Onodera?!

Ending our list of the 6 Light Novels Like Psycome we look at Onegai Twins, an older series that we still haven’t forgotten about here at Honey’s Anime HQ. Onegai Twins is another story of a young man who was just minding his own business that ends up finding himself in a love triangle between two girls. Maiku might have quite a dilemma on his hands now but we loved this short light novel series that hits you in the feels while also making your cry from laughter. Do you think you can deduce who is Maiku’s sister? Find out as Maiku does in Onegai Twins!
