Mx0 might never finish as a story—it was discontinued before chapter 100 and ends at volume 10—but that doesn’t stop us here at Honey’s Anime from recommending it to the general masses. With some stellar shounen action, a great cast of characters and awesome art, Mx0 is a fun read that captures its audience. We still cry that the series didn’t continue but we at least got 99 chapters of greatness. If you loved Immortal Regis, you must check out Mx0.

3. Kurokami (Black God)

  • Authors: Par, Sung-Woo- Im Dal Young
  • Genres: Action, Drama, Supernatural, Seinen
  • Volumes: 19
  • Published: Dec, 2004- Apr, 2012

Keita Ibuki’s life has been quite tough as of late. Besides trying to make a living as a freelance programmer, Keita finds his mind always thinking back to his mother’s death after witnessing someone who looked exactly like her. Then one-night, Keita meets a young girl named Kuro and tries desperately to save her from a strange attack. Keita nearly dies after losing his arm during the attack but Kuro exchanges her arm to mend his and then tells Keita of the world of Tera Guardians and doppelgangers. Keita’s life was already challenging but now he’s found himself in the middle of a deadly war.

In many stories, it always seems like heroes are born from either dying or nearly dying. However, Kurokami is slightly different by having Keita not being the main fighter of the story and instead, giving that role to Kuro, his female companion. Though like Immortal Regis, it takes a large-scale event to remove Keita from his normal life and thrown him head long into a world of supernatural intrigue and martial arts. Kurokami is an excellent work handled well by manwhaga Par Sung-Woo and Im Dal Young and should be read by those who love the action found in Immortal Regis as well as the supernatural themes and setting. Plus, there is an anime series out if you finish Kurokami and need more of it which we will be you will.

Crude, harsh and quite full of herself, Kurohime is pretty hard to be around but nonetheless Zero decides to team up with her to find out why she was cursed by the gods in the first place.

Regardless, if it’s a manga, a manhwa or even an anime, the one faithful encounter usually is a good starting place for a grand adventure. For proof of this, one needs to simply look at Mahou Tsukai Kurohime. Filled with great art and wicked action, those who love the supernatural battles of Immortal Regis will thoroughly enjoy Mahou Tsukai Kurohime. With 18 volumes, you’ll find yourself lost in the world Zero and Kuro inhabit and even love the romance that blooms between the two. 5. Darren Shan (Cirque du Freak)

  • Authors: Arai, Takahiro- Shan, Darren
  • Genres: Adventure, Shounen, Vampire
  • Volumes: 12
  • Published: Aug, 2006- Feb, 2009

A new circus is in town and Darren Shan and his friend Steve are excited to go. Called Cirque du Freak, it becomes quite apparent early on that this circus isn’t a normal happy and fun one. The performers pull off insane and oddly creepy performances that even Darren considers to be a bit too much, though his sense of wonder seems to have been hooked nonetheless. However, Steve quickly tells his friend Darren that he notices something odd about one of the performers named Mr. Crepsley. While Crepsley may look human, he is actually a vampire! Upon discovering this, the two boys arethrown into a world filled with adventure and mystery.

Love them or hate them, circuses are usually pretty interesting things. Sure, they can be quite odd and the performers mirror this with some outlandish looks and stunts but they still pull in large crowds who wish to witness the stunts they can do and the aura of oddness that surrounds them. That’s why it’s pretty easy to see how one could get lost in the 12-volume manga known as Daren Shan. Based upon a popular English novel series, Darren Shan’s art, story and adventure really remind us of the world that we see in Immortal Regis. Though, the big difference between the two is that Immortal Regis is more set-in fiction and Darren Shan has an air of reality to it. If you love shounen adventure manga like Immortal Regis, your best bet for a similar read comes in the form of Darren Shan Cirque du Free.

6. XBlade

  • Authors: Shiki, Satoshi- Ida, Tatsuhiko
  • Genres: Action, Demons, Fantasy, Shounen, Supernatural
  • Volumes: 12
  • Published: Nov, 2006- Dec, 2010

Tokyo, several years ago, was hit with a terrible disaster that wiped out 2 million people. With Tokyo being a now shattered wreck, the survivors begin to make changes to the landscape. Separating into thirteen districts, these areas have become the Tokyo Barricade Zone. Our story, however, focuses on Morisaki Harumi a young man who was the only survivor of his family during the incident that befell Tokyo’s citizens. After a car accident, Haru’s world changes when he ends up involved with Mana, a girl who turned herself into an ancient sword…

While Immortal Regis might have had one death change the world for its main protagonist—Jae Hyuk Chae—Xblade has 2 million lives lost for Haru to begin his change into a new life. XBlade by mangakas Shiki Satoshi and Ida Tatsuhiko delivers a dark story of trying to fight to earn the right to live in a new twisted world. Filled with magical battles and plenty of shounen themed storytelling, XBlade impressed us with its 12 volume run and we know you guys and girls will enjoy it as well. While the set-up of XBlade might not sound impressive initially, the tale of Haru and Mana will begin to show individuality that we also saw in Immortal Regis after the story started building up. Definitely check out XBlade and you won’t be disappointed!
