- AVIOT, operated by Preseed Japan Corporation, which manufactures and sells consumer electronics products, has announced the launch of a new mobility product development project titled “AVIOT Ridepiece Project” in collaboration with Shoji Kawamori, an animation director, mechanical designer, and vision creator. For this project, Shoji Kawamori is in charge of visual design, and AVIOT is responsible for development.
- Development is currently underway to launch the first product, the electric kickboard KB-S350, in 2025. It is being developed to comply with safety standards for specified small motorized bicycles and exceptional specified small motorized bicycles. It features a streamlined form without any unnecessary elements, while incorporating mechanical design into each component. This design encapsulates innovation, functionality, and the allure of Japanese mechanical design, offering new user value not found in existing electric mobility products.
- The key visual for the project was drawn by Risa Ebata, who worked with Shoji Kawamori as a character designer in the popular anime Macross F. This stunning illustration captures the intricacy of the product while evoking a sense of speed.
Design and Product Specifications of KB-S350
The handlebar area is designed to present a sleek, cutting-edge silhouette that symbolizes the vehicle, while ensuring the visibility of the instrument panel.
The front cowl is integrated with the grip, designed for ease of handling, and incorporates distinctive symbolic design elements such as slits and three holes.
Furthermore, the KB-S350 features AVIOT’s original “3-Way Variable Stand,” offering versatility with three modes: as a touring carrier that allows you to attach small bags, a vertical stand for upright storage, and a security stand to prevent theft during parking. This mechanism provides a stylish yet rugged image.
Talk Show to Commemorate Project Launch
AVIOT will exhibit a prototype of the KB-S350 at Anime Expo®2024, which will take place in Los Angeles, USA, from July 4 to July 7. A talk show featuring Shoji Kawamori himself will be held to commemorate the project’s launch.

In 1984, he made his directorial debut with SUPER DIMENSION FORTRESS MACROSS: DO YOU REMEMBER LOVE? at the age of 23. MACROSS would go on to have a profound and lasting impact, with its influence being felt around the world.
Apart from MACROSS, Shoji Kawamori has also created various original anime, including GENESIS OF AQUARION, SPRING AND CHAOS, EARTH GIRL ARJUNA, and more.
