2020 Manga Taisho Award-winning manga "Blue Period" anime adaptation to premiere in 2021

- It was announced earlier this week that the Blue Period manga will get an anime adaptation which is set to premiere this year.
- Blue Period is a story depicting the suffering of balancing Art College Preparatory School and preparation for entrance exams. The protagonist, Yatora Yaguchi, leads a satisfactory life and enjoys his high-ranked status in high school, but he feels emptiness and anxiety. One day, he comes across a painitng and is absorbed by it. The shock drives him to enter the art world, which is full of beauty and harshness.
- Besides following Yatora's efforts to get into art college, some art facts and techniques are also introduced!
- Blue Period launched on Kodansha's Afternoon magazine in June 2017. Kodansha Comics just published Volume 2 in English on January 5. Since then, the manga has gone to win awards like the 13th Manga Taisho awards and the Best General Manga award in the 44th annual Kodansha Manga Awards—both in 2020—and has been nominated for even more.
