Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) Introduction (No Spoilers)
One day without warning, a strange event happened across the Earth. People were given things called Quirks which in turn gave them superhero-like abilities. Izuku Midoriya, unfortunately, was born without a quirk and despite wanting to be a hero himself he found that path seemingly impossible. A chance encounter with Izuku’s idol—All Might—changes all of that and will allow Izuku to be the hero he has always dreamed of being.
Discussion Time
Deku continues his quest to control All for One and see how he can master the latent abilities by all of its past users. However, training against rival Bakugou doesn’t seem to be helping. Outside of Deku’s issues, we see Eri struggling and feeling quite down. Deku seems to be ready to help Eri out by giving her a pep talk that will be more in depth in the next chapter. Chapter 217 isn’t a big chapter, but it does some good things as well as a few bad ones. Let’s discuss why you should read the new chapter and why you might dislike doing so.
1.
Eri has become this darling character in Boku no Hero Academia and we’ve been hoping she would find some love from our heroes despite her origins. Deku going up to her reminding her she saved him might be the beginning of Eri feeling worthwhile and important to the team. Boku no Hero Academia is always wowing us with character development and chapter 217 is no exception.
2.
All for One’s hidden power has given us hope that Deku will become the strongest hero in Boku no Hero Academia, but we were worried the power would come too fast. Chapter 217 eased our worries by showing Izuku isn’t going to become overpowered anytime soon. The latent powers of All for One seem to be harder to reach then Deku thought and mastering all of its abilities won’t be a quick one chapter affair.
1.
If we had any gripes with this chapter of Boku no Hero Academia, it would be the fact that it was over too quickly. We wished to see Bakugou and Deku train a bit more intensively just because we love their duels from previous chapters. Though this is a minor gripe and truly doesn’t ruin the impact of the chapter.
Final Thoughts
Deku is clearly going to struggle unlocking his new powers through normal means. Though, we anticipate this might mean that the All for One quirk’s hidden ability might only activate when Deku needs to use its power at full power. Meanwhile Eri is struggling with her own internal weakness, but Deku seems ready to give her a nice motivational boost! This chapter of Boku no Hero Academia didn’t do much in terms of action or plot but it sets up some possible new drama for later segments. Did you enjoy this week’s Boku no Hero Academia?
