Produced by Sunrise and distributed in North America by Funimation, “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” is the first original feature film from the franchise and the highly-anticipated sequel to the original anime series, which aired for two seasons from 2006-2008. During the ten years that following the series, the Code Geass franchise and its fanbase continued to grow through multiple OVAs that explored the Code Geass universe, numerous adaptations of the series as both manga and light novel as well as in video games and lastly in a three-part recap movie based on the original anime and released in 2018. “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection” premiered in Japan on February 9, 2019, grossing ¥287 million and ranking #5 at the box office during its opening weekend. The film later opened in the U.S. and Canada on May 5, 2019.
