November 2nd is "Day of the Dead". In Catholicism, it is set as a day to pray for the dead, and especially in Mexico, known as "Dia de los Muertos", it is known for its grand festivals. So, the website animeanime.jp ran a poll to find out what anime characters had the most memorable deaths, giving them a celebration of sorts on this day.
Characters that have reached a shocking end even in anime are never forgotten. Heroes get left behind to protect their friends, leave early in the story, or die for some reason ... In the past, there have even been funerals actually held for dead anime characters and their deaths sometimes transcend the boundaries of anime.
The poll received responses from 537 people during the survey period from October 22nd to October 29th. The male-female ratio is about 40% males and about 60% females. About 50% of the age group was 19 years old or younger, and about 30% were in their 20s.
