Welcome back again to another wonderfully delicious edition of Eat Like Your Anime Faves. We try to bring you the best looking or most interesting dishes from anime, right to your own table. It’s so simple that even a child could figure it out!
Thankfully, this summer season has given us many cooking anime as well as anime centered on food for us to enjoy. True, we had some in spring as well, as indicated by one-half of this article, but Amaama to Inazuma aka Sweetness and Lightning gives us food and dishes in spades. Thank the anime gods for anime about food. Shokugeki no Souma Ni no Sara does showcase food as well, naturally, and we will begin to cover dishes from this series as well here very soon. But first, let’s go right into our first dish! Hamburg Stuffed Peppers from Amaama to Inazuma!
1. Hamburg Stuffed Peppers from Amaama to Inazuma
Get in my belly.
What you will need:( Note: Serves 1-2 people.)
Optional Notes:
You can always increase the amount of peppers/meat/veggies as well. This is great for those who struggle to get their veggies in.
How to Cook It:
1
First, Dice your onion. The more finely you cut it, the easier the next step will be.2
Next, in a bowl using clean hands, mix the meat, onions, and the amount of soy sauce that you want to use, together. Note: the soy sauce really should not be more than a tablespoon for the ¼ lb / 130g of meat you are using. If you increase the amount of meat or ingredients, then you can increase the amount of soy sauce.3
After washing them thoroughly, carefully cut your peppers in half vertically. Take out all of the seeds and pith, and discard them.4
Use paper towels to dry the peppers. Sprinkle flour lightly on them and the insides as well. This is to help the meat stick.5
Using clean hands again, mold the meat inside of the peppers until the peppers are full and the meat is gone. Push it down inside of the peppers so that they do not collapse, or worse, break, while you are cooking them.6
Heat up a frying pan on medium heat with some oil in it and slowly put the peppers in. The meat side should be facing up!7
If you are only making the amount called for here, add about a half of cup of water to just barely put 2-4 cm of water in the pan, and then place a lid on the pan.8
Simply cook for about 5-7 minutes and then gently flip them cooking for the same amount of time.9
You will know that they are done when the meat is darkened and juicy while the peppers have a glossy finish.
(Note: You are handling raw meat. Wash wash wash your hands! )
Yum!
2. Hamburg Steak from Flying Witch
What you will need:(Note: Serves 2-3 people.)
Optional Notes:
If you are feeling adventurous, you can certainly add garlic to this! Minced garlic would go excellent with these hamburgs.
How to Cook It:
1
Mix all of your ingredients together in a large bowl. Literally mix them all together. Knead the meat well.2
Take the dough and form nice round patties about the size of the palm of your hand.3
In the center, this aids in the cooking process, use your thumb to make an impression.4
Heat up your frying pan with some oil.5
If you have side veggies, then line the pan with those and cook the burgers one by one. You can cook them all at once, but they will take longer to cook and potentially could overcook as the stove/pan works to be heated evenly. Your best option for this recipe is a bit of a smaller frying pan.6
That’s it!
(Note: Raw Meat will make you ill. Please clean as you go! )
If you did everything right, it should come out looking something like this!
Yum!
