Synopsis
For Haruka Nanase, who’s taking on the world, the next stage is Sydney, a place of dreams that he once visited before.
One day, while taking a rest before his departure, he is confronted by another swimmer who took part in the All-Japan Tournament and demonstrates his fighting spirit.
With the memories of all the friends he has swum with brimming in his heart, Haruka steps into a brand new world.
Waiting for him there is the reigning champion, Albert Volander.
The swimmers each make their mental preparations for the upcoming Sydney tournament.
What will they feel and what will they swim for as they compete at the pinnacle of their sport?

Haruka Nanase: Nobunaga Shimazaki
Haruka has always felt at home in the water. A naturally gifted swimmer, his aquatic agility and grace entrance all who see him in action. Bonds with his friends took shape during a relay race in elementary school and became iron-clad during their time at Iwatobi High School. Now a freshman at Idaka University, he is working with Ryuji Azama to reach his full potential. With Rin leading the way and Makoto’s support, Haruka is making waves in the world of competitive swimming.
Makoto Tachibana: Tatsuhisa Suzuki
Makoto is Haruka’s childhood friend. Joining the swim club at Haruka’s request, Makoto went on to become the captain of Iwatobi High’s swim team. Being on the team showed him just how fun swimming can be, and his desire to pass that joy down to future generations inspired him to enroll in college. Watching Haruka and Rin compete on the world stage is what motivates him to study every day and make that dream a reality.
Rin Matsuoka: Mamoru Miyano
A relay race with the Iwatobi Swimming Club became the spark that brought Rin, Haruka, Makoto and Nagisa together. His passion for swimming led Haruka to the world stage and became motivational support for Sousuke. Despite a setback while studying abroad in junior high, he became strong enough to shoulder the dreams of others with the help of his friends. After graduating from Samezuka High school, he has devoted himself to achieving Olympic gold.
Ikuya Kirishima: Kouki Uchiyama
Teaming up with Haruka, Makoto, and Asahi during his first year at Iwatobi Junior High taught him the importance of friendship. He traveled to the United States with his older brother during his second year and reunited with Hiyori. Surprisingly sensitive, there was a time when he stubbornly dove right into training on his own. Now, Hiyori and Natsuya are there to support his journey as strong admiration for Haruka burns in his heart.
Asahi Shiina: Toshiyuki Toyonaga
Asahi swam alongside Haruka, Makoto, and Ikuya in his first year of junior high. However, he was forced to transfer to a different school the following spring due to his father’s job. Asahi would transfer several more times, but always managed to make new friends while refining his swimming skills. He has a strong sense of right and wrong and treasures every friend he has ever made. Reuniting with Haruka at Idaka University, they are on the same team once again.
Nagisa Hazuki: Tsubasa Yonaga
He met Haruka, Makoto, and Rin during a relay race in elementary school. Reuniting with them at Iwatobi High School, he returns to the pool. Both a great swimmer and a jokester, he simultaneously supports Rei and keeps the team on track. Time spent swimming with his friends is more important to him than anything else.
Rei Ryugazaki: Daisuke Hirakawa
Nagisa’s aggressive recruiting convinced Rei to leave track for the swim team. He idolizes Hakura’s freestyle. After Haruka and Makoto’s graduation, he takes over as captain of the Iwatobi Swimming Club. Despite his cool head and serious nature, Nagisa knows exactly what buttons to press to spur Rei into action. Thoughts of a special someone burn bright in his heart.
Hiyori Tono: Ryouhei Kimura
His parents were always busy when he was growing up, so Hiyori often hid what was on his mind so he wouldn’t bother them. It was the swimming club and Ikuya’s smile that saved him from his days of solitude. He is grateful to this day. After enrolling in Shimogame University, all sorts of emotions come to a head when facing Haruka and competing alongside Keiya in a relay. He runs into an old friend during the National Qualifiers and latent parts of his personality bubble to the surface.
Sousuke Yamazaki: Yoshimasa Hosoya
Rin’s best friend and supporter, he became known for his butterfly during junior high and high school on his way to the world stage. However, he distanced himself from competition after injuring his shoulder during a medley with the Samezaka Swimming Team. His friends encourage him to make a comeback, and now he’s ready to go through with it.
Natsuya Kirishima: Kenji Nojima
Natsuya was the captain when Haruka joined the Iwatobi Junior High Swimming Club. He and his brother Ikuya left to train in the United States the following year. After graduation, he gathered swimming accolades from all over the world, but watching Ikuya race renewed his resolve.
