What You Need to Know:
- GKIDS' MIRAI, directed and written by Mamoru Hosoda, was nominated this morning for a Golden Globe for "Best Motion Picture - Animated" by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. To date, the feature film has also garnered two Annie Award nominations including "Best Animated Feature - Independent," and earned a nomination from the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society (LAOFCS).
- MIRAI made its world premiere at Cannes Directors' Fortnight, a rare honor for a Japanese animated film.The film is GKIDS' third Golden Globe nomination after last year's The Breadwinner and 2016's My Life as a Zucchini which both went on to receive Academy Award nominations for "Best Animated Feature." MIRAI is currently playing in theaters nationwide.
