What You Need to Know:
- In the world of anime, many of us often forget that in order to breathe life into a character, let alone the entire series, you need the right voices in order to make it all happen. A show can have great characters with wonderful backstory but as soon as you hear their voice, something just doesn't resonate as well. There's no emotion and thus, the character then lacks the same energy as it did originally on paper. This is why hiring the right seiyuu for the job is integral not only to the success of the character, but to the anime series as a whole.
- So today we pay our respects to one of the voices of anime, who put all of her heart and soul into her work to ensure that us fans have something to look forward to. A happy birthday to Satomi Sato, who's well known for her roles as Eru Chitanda in The Niece of Time (Hyouka), and Ritsu Tainaka in K-ON!, Aria Shitijou from Seitokai Yakuin-domo, Wendy Marvel from Fairy Tail, and Manami Tamura from OreImo (Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai).
- Another prolific birthday that we have isn't a seiyuu but without her, we certainly wouldn't have some incredible classics to talk about. Who are we talking about? Today we celebrate the birthday of Hiromu Arakawa, the creator behind Full Metal Alchemist and the wonderful clasic Silver Spoon. Both of these anime have gone on to become instant classics both in the manga and anime field, selling millions merchandise worldwide. Other notable titles from Arakawa's catalogue include Arakawa Under the Bridge and Arslan Senki.
- Much like every mangaka starting out, her career started off slow with her first one-shot titled STRAY DOG garnering attention of some fans. However, it was when she released Full Metal Alchemist (Hagane no Renkinjutsushi in Japanese) that her life changed forever. Happy birthday once again to you Arakawa-san! May you celebrate many more!
Two great people celebrating their birthdays makes me a happy bee!
Happy birthday Arakawa-san! We LOVE your work!
