Synopsis
The story takes place near the end of the Edo period. Gabimaru, formerly the strongest ninja of Iwagakure, is captured as a fugitive ninja and put on death row. He is offered a proposition in which he will be acquitted if he brings back the Elixir of Life from an island rumored to be a paradise. Wanting nothing more than to be reunited with his beloved wife, he heads for the island with executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. After making landfall, Gabimaru and Sagiri begin their search but there are many obstacles barring their path. Other criminals on death row are also after the same elixir, not to mention strange creatures lurking on the island, eerie man-made statues, and the Sennin who rule over the island.
