News of this project was first revealed about two years ago. So, you can imagine how much fans have been anticipating the release of these episodes this summer. Details have been scarce about plot lines within K: Seven Stories. But, we do have some details about what to expect. So strap in and let's delve into the seven episodes that'll be released as the year goes on.
Seven Episodes?
The K Project continues with a seven-episode series airing in Japanese cinemas. The first episode, R:B ~Blaze~ aired on July 7th. The Idol K is a spin-off, parody movie that will air alongside each of the episodes. So, even though there are only six episodes being released this year, The Idol K will be shown together with each individual episode creating a total of seven stories.
The schedule for the other film releases are as follows:
- Episode 2 SIDE:BLUE ~Tenrou no Gotoku (Like Sirius) opens on August 4
- Episode 3 SIDE:GREEN ~Uwagaki Sekai~ (The Overwritten World) opens on September 1
- Episode 4 Lost Small World ~Ori no Mukou ni (To the Other Side of the Cage) opens on October 6
- Episode 5 Memory of Red ~BURN~ opens on November 3
- Episode 6 Circle Vision ~Nameless Song~ opens on December 1
Story Details?
Not much has been revealed beyond the first three films. R:B ~Blaze~ will focus on the first meeting of Red King Mikoto Suoh and the newly crowned Blue King, Reisi Munakata. During Munakata's efforts to rebuild Scepter 4, he aims to put an end to Suoh's relentless antics throughout the city. Not only are their harmful to the citizens, but Suoh threatens his own life every time he abuses his power.
Side Blue opens ten years after the clash between Suoh and Munakata. Munakata discovers that someone survived the massive attack that created the Kagutsu Crater. This man Gouki Zenjo is taken in by the Blue King and soon after dissent grows within Scepter 4.
Side Green will focus on the Green King and his clan, the JUNGLE. In particular, the episode will center on Sukuna Genjo. He's a JUNGLE recruit who quickly rises through the ranks in hopes of meeting the Green King, Nagare Hisui. He even goes as far as to challenge the strongest member of the clan, Yukari Mishakuji, for the privilege to meet and talk with Hisui.
Lost Small World is a novel adaptation of the K series. The story begins with Munakata bringing in Saruhiko Fushimi into the ranks of Scepter 4. Having been a member of Homura in the past, he now joins the Blue clan and it appears that he is able to harness two different auras at the same time. He is a special person, indeed.
Memory of Red this is a manga prequel to 2012 K anime. Presumably, this episode will pick up from the beginning of the manga. The plot focuses on the early reign of Mikoto Suoh as the Red King. From the first moment he became King, everyone knew he possessed abilities and a personality to be feared. He was fire personified. His strength was feared and admired by all, but none more so than his clansmen. Suoh allowed anyone to change his clan, they just needed to pledge their allegiance. Immediately, they were accepted and became more than just soldiers or gangsters. All members of Homura are a family. Their bond is deeper than that of any of the other clans. For that reason, the red clan protects their own above all else and their king is first in line to protect his family.
Circle Vision, this is the episode we know nothing about. Except that it was mentioned that this episode would be an entirely new story. It most likely contains characters and settings we've seen before, but it will have a plot that we haven't yet read or seen in the anime.
Final Thoughts
The first episode has been released and fans have been praising it. It goes without saying that K has gorgeous animation, artwork, and music. The consensus is that more time is spent fleshing out individual clans and characters, which was the main objective of this Seven Stories project. GoHands, the studio behind K, is obviously hoping to show off their universe as much as possible and get people interested in their novels and manga. It seems to be working.
The last bit of information we have is that Angela is returning to perform the main theme for K Seven Stories. You may remember her since she worked on the previous two K anime and on the film K: Missing Kings.
Well, that's about it. We hope you found this short breakdown of the current K project informative. Thanks for reading and we hope you have a great day!
