What You Need to Know:
- Possibly? But more likely than not, it will not happen domestically. Internatonally however, is anyone's guess. What we do know is that Kimi no Na Wa is now on the path to rise to 2nd of all time in Japan. After overtaking Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Ponyo) a few weeks ago, Kimi no Na Wa has pulled in over 16,400,000,000 yen (~156 Million USD) at the box office.
- Oricon, the equivalent of the Billboard charts is now alledging that Kimi no Na Wa now has a clear path to make 20 billion yen before it comes out of theaters. That would place it above Bayside Shakedown 2 which is currently #4 in history in Japan. It pulled in 17.4 billion yen at the box office when it debuted. Moving upward in ranking after it are Princess Mononoke at #3 with 19.4 billion yen made, Howl's Moving Castle at #2 with 19.6 billion yen made, and then at #1 is Spirited Away with over 30.8 billion yen made at the box office.
- Can Kimi no Na Wa break that ceiling and lodge itself in with the top movies of all time in Japan? It's possible. The movie is pulled in 476,290,00 yen between the 22nd and 23rd of October and that viewership was up 101.8% from the previous week. It certainly is a good movie! Have you seen it yet?

All the young people went and saw it so now all of the older people are going to see it.
Ghibli is in hot water!
If this keeps up, Spirited Away would be out as of next year no?
Whatever
Shin Godzilla was praised and it utterly lost to this one.
Woah...... That is a lot of money.
I wonder what the director is going to do if he overtakes Ghibli movies...
