About Lantis Matsuri

Lantis is a Japanese music label founded in 1999 focused on anisong music. Lantis is also the lead organizer of the Anisong World Matsuri concert series. The 20th Anniversary Lantis Matsuri was held across three days in June in Tokyo and showcased over 70 musical performers from all over Japan.

Day 1: Friday 21st

For a Friday event, the Lantis Matsuri was jam-packed full of fans who came in hordes to see their favorite artists perform. The day started with revered artist Minori Chihara kicking everything off for elated fans. Throughout the concert, electricity continues to rise as artists such as Hashimoto Miyuki, Aki Misao, STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION, ZAQ, Aquors, and more took to the stage to perform their most notable songs.

Before the audience even made it to their seats, the room was abuzz with excitement. Lantis gave the audience a real treat by having all of their artists perform a special theme song for this event. From JAM Projectand Aqours, to Luck Life and Minori Chihara, everyone was a part of the song!

Lantis Festival 2019 Theme Song「Starting STYLE!! 2019 Teaser Trailer」

Minori Chihara was first to take the stage and she was fantastic. Fans were buzzing with excitement when she revealed not only that it was her 15th anniversary since debuting, but that she was going to be giving us a new single! Minori Chihara will be performing the Violet Evergarden Gaiden Movie ending theme due out September 6th. The audience roared with approval as she handed the stage over to NOW ON AIR. They were great and revealed that Aira Yuki was their music producer. Following their saccharine jam, Aira brought a somber moment as she played a ballad live on the piano from Violet Evergarden. There wasn’t a dry eye left in the room following her touching performance.

One notable performance definitely came from Miyuki Hashimoto, who performed the opening theme for Saki! Titled “Glossy MMM”, which conveyed how powerful her voice is and truly commanded the stage with her passionate display of emotions while singing.

Well known and extremely talented artist Aki Misato made her way on stage shortly after Miyuki, and thanked fans for supporting her over the 15 years that she’s been around. As a reward, she sang her debut song “Kimi ga Sora Datta” from the anime mai-HIME, which had fans catapulting out of their seats to celebrate the nostalgic performance that really put her on the map.

The excitement didn’t stop there as STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION performed the epic opening intro from Dimension W titled ‘GENESIS’ which was bass pumping, and had the audience singing along in almost perfect unison. It was just hit after hit and the hairs on our arms wouldn’t settle down even after the break, because of how captivating these performances were.

A really great highlight of the show was watching Yousei Teikoku command the stage with her overwhelming presence. Not only did she whip the audience into shape, she even made the band continue to play on loop while making the audience chant that they were all her subjects in her fairy kingdom. She even had her own podium from which she commanded, and demanded everyone’s attention. She had fans jumping up and down to the beat and waving their lights so furiously that no one needs to go to the gym now for a week. That’s for sure!

ZAQ, FAYLAN, Chihiro Yonekura, and of course ALI PROJECT (with their eccentric stage costumes) were hands down some of the best highlights of the entire show, with ZAQ showcasing her vocal prowess with ‘Sparkling Daydream’. On her on-stage performance was impactful and demonstrated just how to keep the audience fired up, as she attacked every lyric with an intensity that it permeated through your body as she sang it.

Day 2: Saturday 22nd

fhána first started the show with the opening to Witch Craft Works, “divine intervention”. Their powerful vocals reverberated throughout the hall as the opening to the anime played behind them on the stage. Minami took to the stage next and sang songs that took us back to the moments when we heard them for the first time. They’re all thanks to Masaaki Iizuka who composed them, too! Minami was followed by a lively performance by Kitauji Quartet who wore the same outfits as their characters in the anime opening video that played behind them.

Tapimiru and the lovely ladies of Aikatsu Stars! brought fresh performances to the stage. AiRI followed them with a famous, refreshing song that really got the audience excited. AiRI performed “Dreamer” the opening theme of Tari Tari. Her voice sounded more powerful than the studio version. Must be the energy of the audience feed backing to her.

Next up on stage was legend seiyuu and singer Megumi Ogata. Her entrance on stage was received with euphoria. Megumi performed covers of songs from famous anime that she has been in, including Evangelion, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Sailor Moon. Her first song was the anime anthem “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis”, followed by the very popular “Moon Revenge”. it wasn’t just the concert hall that exploded with energy, social media was abuzz with her performance.

milktub came out to emcee and this was met with plenty of cheering that continued on until the day’s events were finished. Next up was the veteran band, nano.RIPE. Following them, performances continued to come from the adorable presentations of Kanae Ito and Ryoko Shintani, to the cool ones by Kensho Ono and Showtaro Morikubo. eufonius took the stage after those four to sing with a truly clear voice. It was then revealed that many of the songs performed at Lantis Matsuri 2019 were written by Aki Hata herself!

The performances that really brought female fans to the climax were Daisuke Ono’s magnificent dance as part of THE IDOLM@STER SideM performance and Kenichi Suzumura’s pop performance. The lovely ladies of THE IDOLM@STER SHINY COLORS, Tasuku Hatanaka, and Takuma Terashima all followed, eliciting cheers from the male fans of the audience who showed the ladies in the room that they could cheer just as loudly. With their cheering voices and yellow light sticks, the mood in the concert hall reached a fever pitch.

What a surprise it was when Daisuke Ono, Kenichi Suzumura,and Showtarou Morikubo all came back to the stage again for an “Orepara” group performance! Nobody was ready for that. Finally, it was time for the climax. Having stood numerous times on the stage in front of countless fans, GRANRODEO closed out the second day of festivities with a powerful, passionate performance.

Day 3: Sunday 23rd

Sunday started with a big dose of rock music as OLDCODEX took the stage and performed “Rage on” the OP of Free! The audience sang along “Heading to Over” from Free! Dive to the Future. Next up on stage was the multi-talented Makoto Furukawa (Saitama from One Punch Man) who sang his debut single “miserable masquerade”. He was followed by buzz☆Vibes, a duo consisting of Showtaro Morikubo and Shinnosuke, they performed their funky hit song titled “Screamin’ 2nite”.

Mia REGINA entered the stage and were received by a frenetic audience. Their performance of “Chou Musubi Amulet” from Soushin Shoujo Matoi was very powerful, the girls have outstanding voices and strong stage presence. Next was one of the most awaited performances from the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club who came on stage with their debut single “TOKIMEKI Runners”, they gave us a lovely show filling the whole place with joy and excitement. Idol time was not over as THE IDOLM@STER MILLION LIVE! MILLIONSTARS took over and performed “Brand New Theater”, “UNION!!” and “DIAMOND DAYS”.

After a break, the audience was welcomed back by the mighty band ORESAMA with the glamorous performance of “wonder drive” and “Ryuusei Dance Floor“. The atmosphere filled with the lovely and ethereal voice of Chima performing the beautiful opening theme of Hakumei to Mikochi “urar” leaving us wanting more of her soft voice. But the same atmosphere linger with rionos and her song “Hachitairo” her hot song from Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau (Children of the Whales). Reina Ueda shared the stage with rionos to sing “sleepland”. This song was composed by rionos herself for Reina.

One of the highlights of today’s shows was the performance by voice actors and singers Minori
Chihara, Aya Hirano, Yūko Gotō, and Daisuke Ono, members of the SOS Brigade of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Their songs brought the fans back to the whimsical world of Haruhi owning the audience’s memories for 5-song set.

At 5:00 p.m., red light sticks went up and were being waved all around, as fans voices roared to welcome the next act, LAZY. Fans were pumped up following their performance, but what really kicked up the cheering to another notch, was an impassioned speech from the head of Lantis himself saying “Let’s all get excited about the anime world!”. Chorogonzu followed up with a powerful performance, and fans cheered wildly as the members gave self-introductions and the second season of Miss Kobayashi’s Maid Dragon was teased further.

Following that wonderful revelation, the three Aqours sub-groups Guilty Kiss, AZALEA,and CYaRon! took to the stage to get fans excited for what was to come next. Guilty Kiss lead with “Strawberry Trapper”, a rock-sounding song, and “Shadow gate to love” followed. It was the perfect balance between upbeat and cool for their performance. AZALEA was next, and the light sticks all quickly changed to pink as if a magic spell had been cast. Their performance was simply astounding to watch. CYaRon! was the last group. They danced and performed “Kaigandoori de Matteru yo” while teasing fans. For a moment, it felt as if the entire audience was one giant entity.

After the lovely ladies of Aqours left the stage, Sphere, Ayaka Ohashi, and Azusa Tadokoro all came on giving great performances. Each of them announced new music coming soon and it was returned with roaring applause from the audience. Something that was met with a very warm reception from fans, was the unexpected special stage that featured the ladies of Sphere teaming up with JAM Project for a rock-esque song performance.

As the end got closer, the last two artists to take the stage were SCREEN mode
and JAM Project. SCREEN mode performed their hit song, “Kyokugen Dreamer” from the anime Yatterman Night and JAM Project closed it out with their hit song from One Punch Man!

Just when everyone thought the concert was over, the entire stadium started cheering for an encore. This was met by all the artists of the day returning to the stage to passionately perform “Starting STYLE!!2019”. The fans loved it and it left everyone in a very happy mood.
