Although deeply passionate about the game, he has a hard time expressing it and was unable to achieve the results he wanted in junior high school. However, someone sees the hidden talent in him, and he is invited to join the Yokohama Minato High School Badminton Club. Ryo’s passion for badminton only grows as he meets the teacher, Mr. Ebihara, and new friends at Yokohama Minato High School.
Shohei Sakaki: Yohei Azakami
Ryo’s classmate and doubles partner. With his powerful and honest playing style, he’s the team’s hot-blooded moodmaker. He’s a considerate guy, and as the oldest of four siblings by quite a few years, he’s gotten good at looking after others; so instinctively, he also watches over everyone in the badminton club. His family owns a restaurant that serves Western cuisine.
Kouki Matsuda: Makoto Furukawa
A single’s player and classmate of Ryo’s. He’s a returnee child who lived in China from the age of eight until he finished junior high school. Although he’s just come back from abroad and hasn’t earned a name for himself in Japan, he’s quite the talented player. He thinks things through logically first and then acts, always remaining calm and not giving in to his emotions. He’s very handsome and even has a fan club in his class.
Taichi Higashiyama: Kensho Ono
A double’s player and classmate of Ryo’s. He’s the older of the Higashiyama Twins. He and his brother Yoji play in perfect sync and have been active as national district players since their junior high school days. He’s very much aware of being the older twin, and in critical moments he’s the one who takes the lead. He was a catcher in elementary school for his baseball team.
Yoji Higashiyama: Tetsuya Kakihara
A double’s player and classmate of Ryo’s. He’s the younger of the Higashiyama Twins. He and his brother Taichi play in perfect sync and have been active as national district players since their junior high school days. He’s a little weak under pressure and unconsciously relies on Taichi. He was a pitcher in elementary school for his baseball team.
Hikaru Uchida: Yuki Kaji
Ryo’s classmate who has never played badminton until he joined the club at Yokohama Minato High School. He’s enrolled in the advanced courses as a scholarship student, so his grades are always at the top of his class. He’s the brains of the badminton club and his comforting presence leads others to place their trust in him. He actually knows more about his teammates than he does his own family.
