What You Need to Know:
- Confessing ones love towards another can be quite challenging for many, as it paints a picture of fear that maybe the other person may not reciprocate with your feelings. However, "Kokuhaku" or "Confession of love", is quite common in Japan especially in high school, where emotions are constantly running on high gear. This situation is no surprise to Sakuta Azusagawa as he was able to confess his love to Mai Sakurajima on this day May 29th.
- On the third day of exams, Sakuta finally was able to get some much needed rest and forget about Mai. He had been awake for 3 days straight because he believed that Rio Futaba's hypothesis that "if you sleep, you'll forget about Mai Sakurajima, who has come down with the Shishunki-disease." Prior to this he had stayed awake in order to remember Mai, but on the second evening while Mai was in the middle of teaching him, she drugged his drink with sleeping pills just so that he could fall asleep.
- However, nothing could stop his mind from constantly thinking about her, even during exam time because all of the questions reminded him of Mai. He immediately loses all control, darts out of the classroom and in a brave and fearless scream, he confesses his love for Mai for everyone in the building to hear.
- While his love for Mai was pure and unfiltered, the intention behind it was definitely different. The reason for Mai's sickness was caused by the students and their unconscious ignorance towards her. So Sakuta actually made the reason for Mai's existence that much stronger than those ignorant claims, by confessing his powerful love and ultimately removing the sickness from Mai's heart. A truly happy ending indeed. Love truly overpowers hate by leaps and bounds!
Truly a very beautiful moment in the series. I was so happy for Mai too!
This just goes to show that love conquers all pain!
