What You Need to Know:
- Last week, many Twitter users received copyright strikes for sharing images from Shueisha properties including One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Food Wars! and more. Some reported receiving strikes for linking to reviews of Shueisha's manga and even an official manga artist for Shueisha recived one.
- The strange thing was that Shueisha never warned anybody or anything and, clearly the claims seemed exaggerated and bogus. And so finally, Shueisha made a statement yesterday regarding the claims, declaring that someone has been impersonating Shueisha and issuing the copyright strikes and they are working alongside social media platforms to address the issue.
- We're glad Shueisha didn't just suddenly go insane issuing strikes to even those who follow the rules! But it is certainly a shady situation. Let us know what you think of this whole thing!
It has come to our attention, Shueisha has been falsely misrepresented by an individual sending copyright and removal requests on Twitter and other social media platforms. Shueisha is currently consulting with the various platforms to investigate what measures can be taken to address this issue.
