What You Need to Know:
- Last year in Japan a devestating incicent happened. Beloved animation studio Kyoto Animation was a target of arson when 42-year old Shinji Aoba decided to set a blaze the entire studio, out of rage due to jealousy and claims that the studio had "ripped him off." The incident left many people injured and several who unfortunately succumbed to their severe injuries, with many important names on that list. This entire incident sent out a shockwave of emotions across not only the anime community but the world, with thousands setting up donation funds so that KyoAni could rebuild. While these donations could not revive those who sadly passed, it did raise the vibration of the community to continue showing support, and helping KyoAni get back on its feet to shine on.
- Yesterday in Japan, Shinji Aoba was finally arrested after being in treatment for 10 months, and media in Japan were able to capture the situation live for everyone to see. Aoba was seen being carried away on a stretcher wearing a face mask and with him now in custody, police will now officially be able to question his motives leading up to that very tragic day.
- KyoAni, through a legal rep, officially stated that they expect Shinji Aoba to incur the "maximum criminal responsibility" and that they don't have much to say to the suspect, considering just how much damage he has caused not only to the company, but to the lives that were taken and can never be returned. Now with Aoba finally facing his much deserved jail time, what are your thoughts on the situation? Let us know.
Why give him a face mask? Let him breathe in the bad air...
That's a bit harsh bee-kun...but I do understand the emotions people are feeling about this. Justice is served now.
