Somehow, this looks similar to Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii. I can tell that this is not going to be as funny as Wotakoi promises, but still.

With Doga Kobo calling the shots. This should be a good watch. They did Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Natsuyuki Rondevous. I would say that they have the romance concept down pat.

Yuuichi Nakamura and Mamoru Miyano are voicing characters which means that we got some good boys.

Synopsis

“I will remember this love forever.”

Camera in hand, Mitsuyoshi Tada has come to take photographs of the cherry blossoms in full bloom when he meets Theresa, a girl who has just come to Japan.

Theresa, who has come to Japan from Lalusenburg on an exchange, has become separated from her friend and got lost.

Mitsuyoshi ends up helping Theresa on a whim, taking her to his grandfather’s cafe, but what happens from there…?

Three Episode Impression

And here comes yet another otaku romance that just has me so uncertain about what the anime industry thinks about otaku. Here, we have Tada who runs into a weeaboo character from a foreign country who is visiting Japan and seems to be acting out her love of the Rainbow Samurai on the streets of Japan. Oh, Teresa.. All the same, Teresa is really sweet and charming outside of her rather cringy tendencies. The first episode had me laughing out loud at some of the things that are so true to anyone who has visited or lives in Japan as a foreigner including having Japanese people responding to you in English when you speak in Japanese to foreigners pretending to be anime characters like that’s what Japan is all about. However, the last 2 episodes of Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai have left me confused with its direction. The title implies there’s romance but the first episode had me thinking it was a parody of real life. The last 2 episodes have me thinking it’s just a slice of life. Either the anime studios are confused about the direction, or I should just leave my judgement at home because this anime is so not going the way I think it is. If you are interested in this anime, I’d say give it some more time to develop before diving in because right now, it’s not really that special in any sort of way.

Characters & Voice Actors List

Mitsuyoshi Tada

Voice Actor: Yuuichi Nakamura

A second-year at Koinohoshi High School and member of the photography club. He works part-time at his grandfather’s cafe whilst aiming to be a cameraman like his late father. He doesn’t talk much, but he’s serious, cares about his friends, and is a kind-hearted boy.

Theresa Wagner

Voice Actor: Manaka Iwami

An exchange student who came to Japan from Lalusenburg in Europe. She’s a beautiful girl with blonde hair and clear green eyes. She’s cheerful and honest, and her smiling face seems to sparkle.

Kaoru Ijuuin

Voice Actor: Mamoru Miyano

Mitsuyoshi’s childhood friend and member of the photography club. He’s super hot as long as he keeps his mouth shut, but unfortunately he’s always causing havoc. He’s the heir of a well-established restaurant in Ginza, and is good at cooking.

Alexandra Magritte

Voice Actor: Shino Shimoji

An exchange student who came with Theresa from Lalusenburg. A beautiful girl with red hair and a stunning figure. She’s Theresa’s childhood friend and is both her best friend and guardian. She’d do anything to protect Theresa.

Hajime Sugimoto

Voice Actor: Yuuichirou Umehara

The president of the photography club and Mitsuyoshi and Kaoru’s upperclassman. He’s called “Pin-senpai” by the other members of the club. He’s intelligent and has good grades, and is quite skilled as a photographer, but he tends to say whatever comes into his head. His dream career is a nude photographer.

Hinako Hasegawa

Voice Actor: Shizuka Ishigami

Hajime’s childhood friend and a member of the photography club. She was sort of forced to join by Hajime because the club didn’t have enough members and was on the verge of being shut down. She’s a straight-A student with common sense who can do just about anything. She keeps her long hair in a braid.

Kentarou Yamashita

Voice Actor: Hiro Shimono

Mitsuyoshi and Kaoru’s underclassman and the only first-year in the photography club. He’s an androgynous boy who’s tall and skinny with fluffy hair. He always keeps his bangs pinned back with a clip. He went to the same middle school as Mitsuyoshi, so they’ve always had an upperclassman/underclassman relationship. He really respects Mitsuyoshi.

Yui Tada

Voice Actor: Inori Minase

Mitsuyoshi’s younger sister, an energetic and cheerful girl who suits her short black bob hairstyle. After they lost their parents, Mitsuyoshi and their grandfather raised her, and she’s like siblings with Nyanko Big. She loves detective novels.
