A Formula for Death
So if you are not watching juuni taisen by now, you should be. The show is a fantastic death game anime leaving us with lots of thrills this season. However, for better or worse, it is following everything up with a certain formula that is making it slightly predictable.
This episode sees Niwatori’s terrible past as well as her horrifying ability to not only command birds, but to literally have them eat their foes after they have been killed. So she utterly removes the zombie Inounoshishi from the equation before meeting Nezumi and Sharyu. Before almost killing them, she leaves because the poison from Dotsuku is too intense making her feel her emotions more strongly as well. So, she ends up meeting Ushii and while thinking that she has the upper hand, she ends up being killed.
This episode in particular has made me laugh and cringe so much that I enjoyed it! I loved seeing how Niwatori was not the idiot she feigned to be and utterly destroying Inounoshishi’s corpse. Sadly, she had the chance to win by killing Nezumi and Sharyu, but failed. This leading to her own downfall was a bit of a let-down, but nonetheless interesting. The show is following a pattern of giving a character the reigns, just to have them killed. It happened with Inounoshishi, Dokutsu, and now Niwatori. While I am not a fan of the death flag being so easily spotted, the story does turn out good, so I don't mind it too much. ALSO we have yet to find out of Ushii killed Uuma! I cannot wait for more!
Brothers but Strangers
My moment of the week comes to you from Osomatsu-san’s second season from the 3rd episode. While the episode threw me off with its idea on how the Osomatsu sextuplets discovered the fleshlight in prehistoric times (someone tell me I got this incorrect), I choose to focus on the main segment of episode 3 which is about Choromatsu and Ichimatsu being stuck together. They’re brothers and sextuplets at that, yet this scene is filled with that same awkwardness that we all feel when we get stuck together with someone we may hang out but never converse with. In that situation, what do you do?!
Well, Choromatsu and Ichimatsu are completely different and they don’t seem to connect in anyway, although they tried. At first, they were completely far away, but as time passed, they revealed more and more, opening up even more to each other. Choromatsu learned that Ichimatsu feels alien to Choromatsu because he has ambition and a desire to get away from the NEET lifestyle, and he also has a passion for idols. Choromatsu talked to Ichimatsu about how he felt about Ichimatsu’s slacker lifestyle and love of cats. While the scene ended with them super excited to have their other brothers back, we can see the possibility of a brotherly bond between the two!
Welcome to Akiba!
You like anime, right? I mean, we all love it and that’s why we are here, that’s kind of obvious… so, how obvious could an anime made to celebrate anime be? Anime-Gataris is the kind of show that highlights the best and tries to acknowledge all this things we love and share, and so far it has been an interesting view of the otaku scene. Following our journey of discovery, the third episode of this original anime brought us to one of the places every anime fan must visit even if you find it overwhelming: Akihabara! In Anime-Gataris, Minoa is the typical rookie, so every little detail in Akiba is the perfect excuse for her friends to help her understand that otaku life is more than watching anime… but it’s also de perfect excuse to remind us of what we love from a funny point of view. Cosplay, smartphone decorations, and even liking the original source over the anime version! If you have to show a friend “what is anime and it’s culture” please tell them to watch this episode; another perfect example of how we see ourselves. Also, another funny thing is how the characters talk about the famous “3 episode rule”, interesting being the third episode of Anime-Gataris. Should we keep watching this? I will. Virtually, we are all part of this anime research club! (with or without a physical place).
Don’t Mess With Tracy
In this week’s episode of B3&B, everyone is having their own (mis)adventures. While Leo is getting mugged, Zapp is having a hedonistic, opium-fueled romp with a busty blonde in what looks like a brothel. Unfortunately for the stoned lovers, Tracy -the rightful owner of the bedroom they’re in- barges in looking for Zapp so he can help her find her missing cat. The blonde tells her to knock, which clearly pisses Tracy off, but she continues wailing over her lost kitty anyway.
The blonde says the cat is probably being turned to poop in some monster’s stomach and to let it go, which drives Tracy over the edge. Tracy then proceeds to give the blonde a lethal nipple twister with her blood technique sending the poor girl flying and doing something to her offscreen that we can only assume killed her.
But that’s not the end! Then she wraps her Zapp’s “Freedom Magnum” -as he later refers to it- and tells him that if he doesn’t find her cat, the same thing that happened to the blonde’s boobs will happen to his little friend, as Zapp rightfully freaks out and calls her the devil.
This is a graphic, intense and hilarious scene that immediately made it to the top of my week’s top moments!
