Home Visit
This week on Blend S we get two different stories. The first is about two characters getting trapped in the office after the manager locks up and leaves. However, this is because he is walking Maika to the station as she forgot her umbrella. She catches a cold though and has to miss work and rest. Naturally, everyone decides to go visit her.
When they roll up, clearly 2 and 2 have never been put together as they realize that Maika’s family is extremely traditionally Japanese. Her older sister greets them and grills them in disbelief that they are actually Maika’s friends. The same then happens for her older brother leading to more laughs. When they finally reach Maika, Dino is offered countless types of tea and snacks from Maika’s siblings who are trying their best to make him feel welcome. This leads to him drinking countless cups of snacks and almost breaking his jaw on the senbei (rice crackers) Fun fact: Senbei are VERY hard unlike their western counterparts. Then, to make it even more interesting and funny, Maika’s older sister and brother assume that Dino is Maika’s boyfriend. Time to play 1 million questions. Finally, and quite hilariously, Maika gets angry, and turns into demon Maika scolding them much to the viewer’s delight.
Blend S is really hitting those jokes each week and the delivery is fantastic. I love this show and drop everything to catch it weekly.
Don’t Mess with the Yakuza or Inuyashiki
This week’s episode of Inuyashiki was quite a shocker. First off, we got our bad guy, Samejima, a yakuza head, who was introduced into the series after he had raped and OD’d a girl whose body was laying in his bed. Then we see him set his eyes on a young idealistic, pretty girl, Fumino, who was looking forward to marry her boyfriend/fiance. We also get another shot of Samejima who rapes--that word is applicable here, right?--another seemingly tough looking yakuza member in the steam room who refused to move. Then Samejima has Fumino kidnapped and is about to rape her. Even when she runs away, Samejima goes through the trouble of pursuing Fumino himself rather than sending men to do the job.
During this whole episode of Inuyashiki, I was in shock at the things going on. The rape scenes of both men and women. The mere idea that Samejima felt the need to pursue his prey himself considering how much power he apparently holds. And of course, the one scene where Inuyashiki completely handicaps each and every member of the yakuza in the room. Seeing tiny missiles fly into everyone’s eyes is not quite a satisfactory feeling that I’m sure Inuyashiki felt. It was a shocking episode and while it ended rather happily for Fumino and her boyfriend, it was rather terrifying and I am just stumped. This is quite the seinen anime of the season if I do say so myself.
Just Go on a Date already!
Oh, I’m liking this anime a lot! As a former MMORPG addict myself, watching Net-juu no Susume makes me remember a lot of things that happened to me or my friends, specially finding love online. The thing with Moriko Morikawa’s story is that, seeing how love is in the air every time Lily and Hayashi are together, there’s no way you don’t want Yuuta Sakurai to find out who the person behind the character is and go on a date with her… also because, do you even ship her with the other guy?It looks like Yuuta is finally aware that the Moriko he is in love with also happens to be his ingame friend Hayashi, another gender swap lover, mind you.
Yeah, Moriko is so sweet… but now she’s so hot too! Even when this episode has a good share of laughs, you can only stare in awe as the new Moriko rises, too gorgeous to be true. It looks like we finally will see them together, or at least knowing who they really are, both IRL and ingame. Will Yuuta find courage to tell her the truth?
Anyways, another important thing we should mention is Kanbe’s part in all of this, playing matchmaker and helping love find it’s way. For now, let’s just wait to see what happens between this two; next stop is pairing Kanbe and Lilac!
Irony
In this episode of Ousama Game, we begin with Ria saying she’ll do anything to win the King’s Game, even commit murder. To which Nobuaki responds by saying that it’s not a game, it’s just murder, and that there must be a way to beat the king without killing. Some of the students start dying for “breaking the rules” of an order that said nobody should do anything “unnecessary”. Nobuaki and Yousuke try to figure out what that means exactly, but in the meantime it’s eating our hero up inside. He can’t stand watching friends die anymore.
They eventually figure out the “unnecessary” thing to do is crying, and Nobuaki calls everyone he can to warn them. When he tells Yousuke, it’s already too late for him since he’d cried already, and Yousuke asks Nobuaki to take care of Kaori and not let anyone get away with making her cry.
Nobuaki, of course, takes it upon himself to go protect Kaori as he promised, and works up the resolve to beat the King. In order to protect Kaori, he calls and warns her about crying and recommends she doesn’t even look at ter texts. And as he’s wondering about his next step, someone knocks him out in the street.
He wakes up and none other than Kaori has him tied up and is pissed that he lied to her about Yousuke being fine. She also blames Nobuaki for all the deaths and accuses im of being the King.
Of course, Nobuaki tells her everything Yousuke said to him about beating the King, but also about how much Yousuke cared about Kaori and that Yousuke put their lives before his own. He tells her that Yousuke asked Nobuaki to take care of Kaori for him, and that he’d said he would never let anyone get away with making her cry.
Kaori remembers their childhood and how Yousuke came to rescue her when some kids make her cry. She immediately gets up to untie Nobuaki, but she collapses to the floor. Kaori apologizes to him and thanks him for telling her how Yousuke felt. Of course, the girl is crying.
Nobuaki, horrified, asks “You cried? I made you cry?”...
This painfully ironic moment really stood out to me. The poor boy who’s trying to save everyone and stop them from dying, just made the one girl cry he wasn’t supposed to, which is already bad enough, but it’s also the rule of the day, so he basically killed her. Damn.
Finale
