In the exciting conclusion to the War of Underworld arc, Sword Art Online threw in numerous heroes/villains but we have to say it was a dead tie for the toughest MC of the series. Both Kirito and Asuna really brought their A-game in this second season, facing challenges left and right. Asuna won our hearts by diving into the strange accelerated Underworld to help her boyfriend Kirito and facing some bad odds. Not only did she have to take down thousands of opponents—who were under the impression that this was just a beta—but also defeat several high ranking enemies who entered the world alongside her.

Kirito was also facing his own battle internally—as he was put into a coma-like state after the first War of Underworld arc and forced to relive some tough memories—and then had to face the deadly Gabriel Miller who was truly evil. Needless to say, both Asuna and Kirito earn our recognition as main characters from this exciting Sword Art Online arc and we think many would appreciate just how strong this power couple truly is!

Anos Voldigoad of The Misfit of Demon King Academy has just knocked our socks clean off our feet from episode one. This reincarnated Demon King has proven time after time an affinity for dealing a butt-kicking whenever he needs to prove his power to those who doubt it!

Anos has performed feats such as rewinding time to change history, drying up an entire lake with a magical fireball, and using a tree branch in a battle against a swordsman! Anos even had an appendage removed—during the sword tournament—and continued to use its movements to help him survive an assault by an unexpected enemy! Needless to say, Anos is the definition of tough and we can’t imagine the summer 2020 season being as amazing without his presence!

This was a tough one folks. There is an impressive number of amazingly tough and capable warriors in The God of High School—such as Dae-Wi and Mi-Ra Yu—but our vote goes to the extremely durable and spunky main man Mo-Ri Jin! Our Goku-like MC has come a long way from episode 1 as he has gained an insane amount of skills—like the ability to null his pain for at least an hour—and we constantly watch in awe as he continues to pass his own limits as a martial artist!

Mo-Ri Jin has just recently shown his true powers with his true ancestry proving that his destiny was always meant for him to be a force to be reckoned with.

If you’re a fan of Re:Zero then you know many characters have endured some pain but Subaru will always be the one who has been hurt the most. Subaru has faced emotional and physical pain thanks to his Return by Death “gift” but in this second season, the pain has only been tripled.

Subaru has been devoured by bunnies—literally—and been absorbed by a yandere witch and her amazing aura! Not only that but Subaru even had to face his past and we wonder how this man continues to even stand!? Subaru, despite being only human, has proven he’s a tough dude both physically and spiritually and he will need that strength to endure what can only get harder as the season continues!
