The uniform doesn’t have to be schoolgirl to be sexy, especially in the world of anime -- a world populated by sexy girls often in short skirts regardless of occupation. We will now endeavor to broaden your horizons and bring you the Top 10 Sexiest Female (non-school) Uniforms in Anime.
10. Fleet Girls Collection KanColle (Kantai Collection: KanColle)
- Episodes: 12
- Aired: Jan. 2015- Mar. 2015
A mysterious fleet of ships have taken over most of the world’s oceans. The world struggles to hold on to control of the seas and calls upon the Kanmusu. The Kanmusu are young girls that possess the spirit of warships, in this case Japanese warships. The girls wear harnesses carrying armaments fitting of their respective class, destroyer, battleship, aircraft carrier, etc., and glide across the water on their feet. The teams of girls defend the shipping lanes against the monsters of the mysterious “Deep Sea Fleet.”
The title has the term collection in it for a reason; this is a collection of cute and sexy girls doing battle on the high seas. We definitely have our cute moe characters, like the main protagonist Fubuki a special class destroyer who wears a classic sailor fuku uniform. The sailor fuku is cute enough on its own, but we’re going for sexy. The classes filled with sex appeal are the battleship and carrier class. The first example is Akagi, a tall, well-developed aircraft carrier. Her white stockings and long black hair give her an air of dignity and grace. Akagi always seems calm under pressure and clearly focused on what has to be done, a very sexy trait. The second example is Kongou, a fast battleship. She is a well-endowed ship and surprisingly not top-heavy. She may wear the clothes of a shrine maiden, but she packs a punch when bringing her cannon to bear on a target. Kongou casts a strikingly sexy silhouette on the sea.
9. Kallen Stadtfeld from Code Geass: Lelouch Rebellion (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch)
- Episodes: 25
- Aired: Apr. 2008- Sep. 2008
The Empire of Britannia, the empire that rules most of the world, has used the overwhelming military might of its Knightmare Frames (large, humanoid mecha) to conquer Japan and make it its eleventh territory. The Empire then stripped the Japanese of their identity and only allowed them to be referred to as elevens. A boy named Lelouch is caught up in this world. He’s a Britain of secret royal blood, a genius, and holds a single-minded ambition to destroy the Empire. He finds a way to take advantage of a small rebellion and insert himself as its leader as the masked revolutionary Zero. An epic (and we mean truly epic) and complex plot filled with action, secrets and betrayal unfolds to an amazing and appropriate end.
Kallen Stadtfeld is a member of the rebellion and becomes one of Zero’s closest allies. She becomes a key player and ace pilot as a member of the Black Knights, the revolutionary army established by Zero. Kallen is a 17-year-old half-Britain/half-eleven, but passes for full-blood Britain. She is a girl of about average height and reddish hair. Kallen’s look in her skin-tight red piloting suit is nothing to scoff at as it accentuates her well-developed breasts. We think her sexiness is maximized when she wears her version of the uniform of the Black Knights. The high-collar black uniform top with long selves hugs her elongated curves with the grey piping coming vertical down the chest accentuating her bust. She doesn’t wear a skirt, but a pair of short shorts with grey trim and thigh-high boots creating an excellent zettai ryouiki, an excellent symbol of sexy.
8. Fino Bloodstone from I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job.
(Yuusha ni Narenakatta Ore wa Shibushibu Shuushoku wo Ketsui Shimashita.)
- Episodes: 12
- Aired: Oct. 2013- Dec. 2013
What do you do when you’ve trained your whole life to become a hero and fight in the great war against the demon king and the war ends before you’ve had a chance to fight? You reluctantly get a job in retail. We know a war against monsters with a high risk of death is preferable to retail, but what are you going to do? You’ve got eat, right? Raul Chaser thought so. He became gainfully employed at Magic Shop Leon. In this world all appliances and electronics run on magic cells. He spends his days focused on the noble quest for quality customer service. He even has the responsibility to train the new employee, a cute demon girl who happens to be the former demon lord’s daughter, Fino Bloodstone.
Fino has lived a sheltered life as the daughter of the demon lord and has no real skills (she barely has the skills for entry-level retail). She is a rather upbeat girl with a positive outlook on life. Fino is also extremely cute with some major curves. She has blonde hair she ties back with a red bow. She has deep blue eyes, adorable pointed demon ears and occasionally sports a snaggle tooth. The uniform she wears at Magic Shop Leon is white with short babydoll sleeves with black trim and a black collar and red neck tie. She even has a very short red pleated skirt with a white trim that makes you think of a cheerleader uniform. A light yellow apron with little pink bows covers her uniform so it doesn’t get to dirty, not that it keeps us from thinking dirty things. The apron only accentuates her bosom and her tiny waist. You really can’t help but think how she would look pulling off a naked apron. We have the answer: damn sexy.
7. Origami and Kotori from Date A Live
- Episodes: 12
- Aired: Apr. 2013- Jun. 2013
The story is centered around Shidou, a high school boy who for some reason is the key to saving the world from “spacequakes,” disruptions in space time that devastate the planet. The cause of the quakes is spirits that appear in the form of young girls whose emotional instability brings on the disasters. Shidou is drafted by the Ratatoskr, one of two competing organizations, to deal with the spirits. The organizations also have very different methods, the AST (Anti-Spirit Team) believes in military intervention to eliminate the spirits while Ratatoskr has a softer approach, make them fall in love and feel loved by Shidou.
We have two lovely girls to mention in this show, one from each of the organizations. Kotori, commander of the Fraxinus a Ratatoskr airship, and Sargent Origami Tobiichi, a member of the AST. Kotori is a classic twin-tailed 14-year-old quick-to-temper tsundere. She has uniform that is quite sexy for her age when she stands on the bridge of the Fraxinus. She wears thigh-high leather boots, a nice zettai ryouiki gap between the lace line hem of her red miniskirt. She doesn’t show lot of cleavage, because she doesn’t really have any, preferring to don a white blouse and black neck tie with matching black ribbons in her hair. The look is completed with a red uniform jacket hanging over her shoulders. Her look may be conservative, but you’d think it was sexy too if she was kicking your ass. By day, Origami wears a rather cute uniform at school, but her work at the AST calls for a more tactical look. The skin-tight bathing suit uniform hugs her petite frame. The idea behind the barely there uniform is it has anchor points for a mecha apparatus. So it makes perfect sense for her cleavage of her pale white skin to be exposed. Her cool, calm kuudere attitude may be the polar opposite of Kotori, but you still wouldn’t mind her standing before you in that tight uniform staring you down.
6. Aoi Sakurai from Rail Wars!
- Episodes: 12
- Aired: Jul. 2014- Sep. 2014
In spite of its name, Rail Wars! has nothing to do with war, unless that war is against pickpockets and other minor crimes. Okay, yes, there is a bomb at one point -- but that’s not the focus. The world of Rail Wars! takes place in a universe where the rail lines across Japan are run by the government and hold some of the best jobs you can get. The best way to get those jobs is by starting your hands-on training while in high school. The plot of Rail Wars! focuses on just that, a group of students who begin their careers in the security division.
Aoi Sakurai is one of those students. She is the kind of girl born to be a security officer. She has amazing hand-to-hand combat skills, easily disarming and pinning people twice her size. She is even certified to carry a gun and is an expert marksman. But we aren’t here to talk about her qualifications, we’re here to ogle her in her uniform. Aoi wears the security uniform well, from the black high heeled boots with red trim to the red of her hair. Her nylons have a nice shine attracting your attention to her long legs. The short cropped jacket and loose neck tie hanging down between her cleavage draws your eyes to her chest. The short pencil skirt hugs her hips and rides up whenever she uses her combat skills to kick someone to the ground. Aoi is certainly the kind of cop you wouldn’t mind getting a thorough pat-down from.
5. Walkure from Macross Delta
- Episodes: 26
- Aired: Apr. 2016- Sep. 2016
The Macross franchise has been on the air in one iteration or another since 1982, and the franchise mix of mecha battles and music has been its hallmark. The universe of Macross Delta takes place in the Brisingr Globular Cluster, a remote part of the milky way, 58 years after the beginning of the original series. A disease called Var Syndrome is plaguing the planets of the system causing the infected to turn into aggressive maniacs. A team of talented singers called Walkure have the ability to nullify the virus with their songs. The group of idols is often deployed in combat zones and preform under the protection of a squadron of Valkyrie Fighters.
The ladies of Walkure may be dressed like idols, but because they work for a paramilitary organization and they’re deployed into hot landing zones their costumes are considered uniforms. The cost-uniforms they wear may differ from performance to performance but there are consistent design elements throughout. We can start with the skirts, which flare out like tutus giving you a peak at the pantsu (like bloomers) underneath. The tops almost always expose cleavage whether they are off-the-shoulder, like a bustier, or if they gather at the collar and have a peek-a-boo window. We just love their performances and their music, and their willingness to put their beautiful bodies on the line is just plain sexy.
4. Frolayati Capistrano from Heavy Object
- Episodes: 24
- Aired: Oct. 2015- Mar. 2016
The warfare of the future is dominated by the Object, massive, often spherical battle platforms that are packed with power. Objects and their pilots rule the battlefield to the extent that conventional warfare with tanks, planes, and ships is obsolete. An Object isn’t indestructible and takes an army of maintenance and support personnel to keep it in the fight. The story of Heavy Object revolves around the military engagements of the Legitimate Kingdoms 37th Maintenance Battalion and their support of the Object known as Baby Magnum.
The Commander of the 37th and Object Operations is Frolaytia Capistrano, a strict commanding officer ready and willing to discipline her subordinates personally and often for the sheer joy of it. We really think she’d be a dominatrix if she weren’t in the army. We love the way she uses her long legs and high heels to impose those punishments by stepping on her subordinates. The commander has long light purple hair that matches her eyes. As many of our girls in uniform, she wears a rather conservative top, jacket and tie. The jacket doesn’t hide anything and only accentuates her ample curves. Her uniform also has a pencil skirt with has a slit from the knee all the way to the hip. We’d all love to see those legs strut towards us as we bow on the floor and beg forgiveness.
3. Shinoa Hiiragi from Seraph of the End (Owari no Seraph)
- Episodes: 12
- Aired: Apr. 2015- Jun. 2015
A virus has decimated the human race allowing vampires to take over much of the world. The majority of the population, or at least anyone under 13, is taken underground to feed the ruling vampires. The human race isn’t known for its willingness to be subjugated and treated like cattle. Resistance forces begin to sprout up all over the world, fighting an enemy even while being out-manned and out-gunned. The story we follow focuses on the Moon Demon Company, an elite unit of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. Vampires are faster, stronger, have better weapons and technology, but the human race isn’t at a complete disadvantage. The Moon Demon Company has their own way of leveling the playing field, contracting with demons more powerful than vampires. The members of the company contract with demons to gain the power to go toe-to-toe with the vampires.
Shinoa Hiiragi is one of the members of the Moon Demon Company. She is the sergeant in charge of our lead cast of characters. She has a very cool personality and a dry, sarcastic wit. She carries a large scythe called Shikama Douji. We know you might not be a fan of neon green/yellow but somehow Shinoa makes it work. Her uniform is a black double breasted dress with neon yellow/green trim and insets in the pleating of a very short skirt. She doesn’t let her legs go all bare, covering them with black thigh-highs. Her purple hair is tied back in a dark purple bow that matches the bow hanging from her collar. We also think her white gloves are just adorable, even when they grip the shaft of her scythe and swing it through a collection of blood suckers. She may spend a lot of her time in the field fighting for survival but we wouldn’t mind getting down and dirty with this sexy sergeant.
2. Asuna Yuuki from Sword Art Online
- Episodes: 25
- Aired: July 2012- Dec 2012
The year 2022 is just around the corner and we’ve been waiting for a game like Sword Art Online, the first fully immersive virtual reality MMORPG that links directly to your brain. We’d all want that if we could have it, right? That is until the creator of the game doesn’t let anyone leave the game and says if you die in game you die in the real world and if your concerned family unplugs you in the real world you die, too. You are trapped in the world fighting for survival with 10,000 other players and the only way to get out alive is if someone beats 99 levels and beats the big boss, the guy who happens to be the game’s designer.
We know that SAO has its critics. We also know that Asuna Yuuki, the lead heroine, is almost universally accepted as a hot as hell perfect girlfriend. Asuna is second in command of the Knights of Blood, a guild made up of front-line fighters. Her nickname is “Flash” for her lighting quick rapier strikes. Asuna has long orange-brown hair and hazel eyes. Her Knights of the Blood uniform is a white top that clasps around her neck with red trim and hangs off the shoulders with sleeves attached under the arms. Her crimson pleated skirt hangs halfway to the knee. She also wears white stockings with a crimson cross and red trim. A long skirt also extends around her back from hip to hip, giving the appearance that she is wearing a short skirt and a long jacket, and we all know how sexy that is.
1. Yatrisino Igsem from Alderamin on the Sky
The Katjvarna Empire and the Republic of Kioka are at war. A new generation of soldiers are being a trained and deployed to the borders to defend the Katjvarna Empire. A cohort of young officers-in-training find themselves quickly promoted and in the field. The weapons of war are on the cutting edge, with horse-drawn artillery and air powered rifles. The infantry protects themselves and their spirits, small sentient beings paired with individuals from birth representing one of the four elements. Spirits often ride in a pouch on the person’s belt.
The best person in the Empire with a sword, two swords in fact, is Yatrisino Igsem. She is a red-haired, red-eyed beauty who is all business. Yatrisino is considered untouchable in the classroom and when she is wielding her dual blades. She takes her job as a soldier seriously; her family has a long history of being called the Empire’s protecting sword. The tall, sexy Yatrisino wears the military uniform of the empire better than anyone. A high-collard light black uniform does its best in conforming to the curves of her modest cleavage. A pair of black stockings cover her very long legs. A black pleated skirt with grey piping wraps around her waist. A pair of sabers sheathed at her hips let you know she means business. She may be wearing one of the most conservative outfits on this list, but it doesn’t detract from her sex appeal. We think it is the less-revealing nature of this uniform that makes it sexy because of the anticipation it creates. Our hearts skip a beat with each flutter of her skirt revealing a little of what’s underneath, and the loosening of her collar and unbuttoning of her jacket become a much-anticipated event. We sit on the edge of our seats waiting for the slightest reveal, because anticipation is sexy.
Honorable Mention
Ryuuko Matoi (Can we really call Senketsu a school uniform?) from Kill la Kill
- Episodes: 24
- Aired: Oct. 2014- Mar. 2014
We know we said that we weren’t going to focus on school uniforms, but Ryuuko Matoi is the exception. Her school uniform isn’t the uniform of her school and it’s sentient. We follow Ryuuko on a quest for revenge as she searches for the person who killed her father. She is aided in her quest by Senketsu, a living fabric that looks like a school girl’s uniform. The fabric sucks her blood in exchange for giving her power, shrinking as the power increases. By the time she finishes some fights the uniform barely covers her. We think in a very weird way she is sexy because of the way she wears a piece of cloth that talks back and shrinks as she wears it.
Conclusion
The uniforms on this list are endowed with sexiness due to the way they are worn, not the amount of skin they show. It’s the character who makes the clothes, and as legendry fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent said, the most important part of the dress is the woman in it. We love seeing sexy girls and seeing all of their curves in skin-tight costumes that leave nothing to the imagination, though the imagination is a wonderful thing, letting us fantasize about what is under those tight yet conservative clothes.
