The summer 2019 anime season brought us the latest entry in the Fate universe. Following the story of Waver ten years after the end of the Fourth Holy Grail War, Lord El-Melloi II Sei no Jikenbo: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note was one of the best anime of the season. Today we are going to be going over some of the best moments in the series as we count down the top five scenes in Lord El-Melloi II Sei no Jikenbo: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note. Let's get started.
5. Gray and the Black Dogs (Episode 5)
While in the midst of an investigation, Waver inadvertently summons a group of Black Dogs after summoning the fairy Faye. The group heads outside to fight the Black Dogs with Gray going out of the front line. In order to stop the Black Dogs, Gray removes her 2nd level restraint allowing her to transform her scythe into its true form. With the help of the spear Rhongomyniad, Gray is able to finish off the Black Dogs in one attack. What makes this scene so good is how it look’s. There is just something about stormy weather, the Black Dogs, and the Magic being tossed around that makes the whole scene so visually pleasing.
4. Shopping Trip (Episode 6)
Reines and Gray go on a little shopping trip together. They go to a department store called Carna, where Reines has Gray try on all sorts of clothing. The clothes Reines pick out embarrass Gray but she endures through the shopping in hopes of learning a little bit more about the Waver and the Fourth Holy Grail War. This is just a really cute scene. There aren't many moments in the series where we get to see just how cute of a character Gray is, but when we do, it is always a treat. This is by far the best cute moment with Gray because we get to see her shy and bashful personality while also seeing her try on all sorts of cute outfits.
3.Christmas Present (Episode 13)
With Waver feeling down about himself when he starts thinking about his predecessor. Gray steps in to cheer him up by thanking him for everything he has done for her. While laying her feelings out, she also musters up the courage to give him the Christmas present she had been unable to give him before. Throughout the series, we get to see Gray grow as a person and become a bit more confident. This scene does an amazing job of showing just how far she has come and developed by being able to let her feelings out and letting Waver know just how she feels.
2. Hephaestion Appears (Episode 8)
Waver and Gray encounter Hephaestion on top of the train who reveals her connection to Iskandar. Angered by Waver's former partnership with Iskandar, Hephaestion tries to kill him but is stopped by Gray. When Hephaestion whips out her Noble Phantasm, Waver steps in and with some quick thinking is able to save both him and Gray. This was one of the best action scenes in the series. Even though Waver isn't the most skilled in battle, his knowledge of magic and his quick wit always make it interesting to see how him and Gray approach fighting together. On top of being an entertaining fight, this scene also has a major impact on the story that continues on through the last half of the series.
1. Waver and Rider (Episode 13)
Waver encounters Iskandar in his dreams and they have a heart to heart conversation. Even though he knows he is dreaming, Waver can't help but enjoy his time with his former servant. He reveals to Iskandar that despite wanting to see him again, he is happy with his life the way it is now. This scene is just so heartwarming. It was the perfect way for Waver's journey to come to an end. With the series focusing on Waver and his relationship with Iskandar it was wonderful to see Waver get a little bit of closure.
