Fall 2018 anime is winding down and just like the garbage (for some shows, let’s be 100 percent honest) they are out. Still, we are happy to see shows like Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken, To Aru Majutsu no Index, and Sword Art Online: Alicization Arc continuing. But today, we want to give you the scoop on some great shows that are coming that you should check out if you want a great ride in a story. Happy Sugar Life was a welcome surprise in Summer and now Winter wants to impress us, but can it? Check out the two shows below and see if your interest is piqued!
Boogiepop wa Warawanai (Boogiepop Phantom)
- Air Date: January 5 2019
- Genres: Psychological, Supernatural, Horror, Thriller
No, that is not a typo; the actual Boogiepop Phantom anime that captured fans almost two decades ago is coming back as a remake and we cannot wait. The story is actually about what happens after a string of murders five years ago. The terror brought the city our main characters live in to their knees, but time has moved on. However, has the fear itself also moved on? The rumor is that Boogiepop, the murderer who appears and kills those who see it, is back. Still Touka and her friends at school try to continue their daily lives as best as they can.
This is a classic story, and even if you have not seen the prequel, you will be fine as this is a remake. Thankfully the committee chose Madhouse to make the anime again (they made the original) so there is hopes that this is in good hands. Fingers crossed that they crank out another hit with this remake. Good news too is that accomplished director Shingo Natsume (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, One Punch Man, Gurren Lagann) is in charge of this remake. Here’s to hoping!

Kakegurui 2nd Season
- Air Date: January 2019
- Genres: Mystery, Drama, Psychological
The anime that surprised the anime fandom as a whole is back! After leaving a massive impact in its wake from Season 1 in Summer 2017, Kakegurui Season 2 is here to bring us the (hopeful) conclusion to the series. The story is of a school where instead of grades, sports, or social status that determines your rank within the school, it’s how good you can gamble and how much money you can secure. The bottom 100 students are treated like garbage and can only hope to win one day and get past the bottom 100 mark. Then one day, a rather eccentric girl named Yumeko Jabami transfers into the school. She has a penchant for gambling for the sake of gambling and soon crushes the powerful gamblers in the school.
Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger of sorts in that the student council accepted Yumeko’s offer to gamble, but it appears that it is not going to be that easy. Starting sometime last week all the way to the air date, the official Japanese site is unveiling a new character. That means somewhere around 40 people will join the staff. Needless to say, we can expect another season of battles, but we wonder what will happen towards the end and if Yumeko will get her decisive match. If not, then either another season will be forthcoming or we will get a movie. Still, while you wait, check out the PV below!

What are your thoughts on these two shows? Will you be watching them? Let us know below. Till next time!
