Emma and Ray despite all odds have indeed failed to stop Norman in his plot to have the demons kill one another. The pain on Norman's face though shows a reality that Emma—and us readers—knew all too well. Chapter 153 of Yakusoku no Neverland has Emma and Ray try to reach their friend and explain why they know this plan isn't what he truly wants. Despite his non-stop desire to kill the demons by using the poison, Norman is mostly just afraid to fail and let those he loves/cares about fall. We see that Norman endured years alone in that facility fighting the emotions that would make him give up. In his mind, Norman wanted to see Emma and Ray as well as all of those he grew up with and that thought pushed him forward when the tests and experiments weakened his will. Emma and Ray in unison tell Norman he's not alone anymore, they are friends, family and siblings. Together, they can help Norman and together they will change the world! Norman finally breaks down, cries and runs to his friends begging them for help after all this time alone.
What awaits our three kids now that they are reunited but with time running out on Norman's life—possibly—and the countdown to the collapse of the demon race? We feel the end is closer than ever before but until the next chapter, let's go into detail on why you must and need to read chapter 153 of Yakusoku no Neverland!
1. Norman's Torment
One wouldn't be too wrong to say Norman for a while could be considered the antagonist of Yakusoku no Neverland. However, in the end, Norman was just a scared kid who wanted to save those who needed him and took the approach best suited for them. Norman has definitely endured the most out of all of the characters in Yakusoku no Neverland and chapter 153 makes you feel his anguish as well as relief once he rejoins his friends.
2. The Trio is Back!
Yes, Emma and Ray were too late in stopping Norman. Yes, Norman might be running out of time. Nonetheless, the biggest take away from chapter 153 is that the original trio is back and finally working together not against one another. Separated, these three are strong, but together, they will undo this mess and find a future for not only themselves but all of those in this twisted nightmare world!
Final Thoughts
The trio has been reformed and despite time being short—for multiple reasons—we are confident this story will end on a good note. Emma, Ray and Norman now need to save the remainder of demons and somehow keep themselves alive which won't be a short order. There's also the fact that Norman seems to be dying and Emma made a wish with consequences we still don't know about.
