One of the more interesting types of characters we see in anime are the angel characters. These angels can come in many different forms with some of them being powerful warriors and some of them just being there for comic relief. There have been a bunch of different kinds of angels over the past few years and today we are going to be looking at some of the best. We are going to be looking at five of the best angel boys that have been in anime over the past five years. Each of the five boys are different types of angels and have a wide array of personalities, abilities, and impact on their stories. Let us get started.
1. Michael from Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis
Michael is one of the Archangel and a key figure in the War against the demons. As one of the Archangel's Michael is incredibly powerful with both his sword and with his divine powers. Not only is one of the coolest looking angels, but he has so many great moments where he gets to show off just how strong the angels are and giving us a greater sense of just how much of a difference there is between them and the human characters in the series. Michael is one of the best angel characters around and we get to see him go on a very tragic journey over the course of Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis.
2. Chidori Hyappo from Centaur no Nayami (A Centaur's Life)
In a world filled with various monster races, Chidori doesn't stand out much amongst his peers. What makes Chidori's character interesting is that he is the antithesis of what an angel character is. Even amongst the other angel characters in Centaur no Nayami Chidori feels different. Whenever we see Chidori, he always comes off as being meek and unassuming. While this sounds like it doesn't make for an interesting character, It actually goes a long way in making him one of the most memorable side characters in the series.
3. Garmatha from Z/X Ignition
Garmata is an angel of White World and one of Gambiel's strongest warriors. When he is ordered to kill a village of innocent people, Garmata turns against Gambiel and is able to save some of the village. Garmata is everything you think an angel character should be. He is strong, good looking, and always tries to do what is right, even if it means turning against his own kind. While he doesn't get as much screen time as some of the other angels on this list, he makes the most of the time he does get, giving us a really interesting character with a lot to like about him.
4. Michael Junketsu no Maria (Maria the Virgin Witch)
Michael is an archangel and he takes on a different role than all the other angels we have looked at so far. In Junketsu no Maria, Miachel serves as an antagonist and spends the entire series attempting to get Maria to submit to God's will. Michael comes off as being very cold and stoic, only focused on accomplishing his task no matter the cost. This is definitely one of the most unique takes on an angel character, and Michael is by far one of the best characters in Junketsu no Maria.
5. Coraly from Renai Boukun (Love Tyrant)
Coraly is a high ranking angel that watches over the cupids on earth. Instead of coming to earth to surprise, he instead takes over the body of Seiji's cat. While in this form, Coraly has the body of a cat along with the face of a man. While Coraly may not be as strong or as cool as some of the other angels we've looked at, he is a hilarious character that gives us a unique spin on an angel character.
