Other than iconic heroes and memorable villains, the world of anime has lots of famous fictional companies as well. Some of them just exist there in the background, while others are an integral part of the story. Some of the companies are on the side of the good guys, while others are the true nemesis in the story. One thing is for sure, these companies hold a lot of power through their money and influence, just like in the real world. Out of all the fictional companies that ever graced the world of anime, these are currently the biggest ones among them.
5. Arasaka Corporation (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners)
When we talk about big corporations, then one particular genre has inevitably come to mind, Cyberpunk. After all, in a world where technology has overrun the world, big tech companies have become a core part of society. From the original Ghost in the Shell to the edgy Psycho-Pass, there are quite a few anime from this genre to choose from. But our pick comes from the latest addition to the genre, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
There are a lot of big tech companies in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners that produce a wide range of products. But the biggest one of them all is the Mega Corp. Arasaka. Arasaka specializes in high-end cybernetics limbs, weapons, and also vehicles, among other things. Not only that, but they also supply combat gear for police and security firms. It’s not even an exaggeration to say that they produce the most sought-after products in the market. Other than producing for the domestic markets, Arasaka is also the major supplier for the Asian, American, and European markets
4. KaibaCorp (Yu-Gi-Oh)
In the world of Yu-Gi-Oh, everybody seems to be interested and involved in some way in the card dueling game. You can easily find numerous stores that specialize in selling duel cards and accessories in every major city all over the globe. That’s how popular this game really is. As such, it goes without saying that the biggest and the most profitable company in the world would be the one that focuses on card dueling games. And that is precisely what KaibaCorp is.
KaibaCorp began its life as a weapon manufacturer. They gained money and influence through this business. However, when Seto Kaiba, the son of the CEO of KaibaCorp, performed a hostile takeover of the company, he immediately changed it into a gaming and entertainment company and allocated their money to research and development of card dueling games. Their most successful product is the Duel Disk, a system that creates a holographic representation of the duel cards. This device became the industry standard for duel card tournaments and earned KaibaCorp an unimaginable amount of money, fame, and influence.
3. Capsule Corp (Dragon Ball)
When we talk about Dragon Ball, the ones that immediately come to mind are Goku, Vegeta, their eccentric friends, and their iconic enemies. We know about big companies like Capsule Corp, but when most people mention it, they simply think about it as the company owned by Bulma’s family. What people might not realize, however, is the fact that Capsule Corp is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, company in the world of Dragon Ball.
Capsule Corp. used to be just another big company that created numerous high-tech products, ranging from hover bikes and all the way to smart houses. However, the one product that allowed this company to take over the world is none other than the Hoi Poi Capsules, also known as DynoCaps. These capsules enabled its user to store anything they want in it, be it a weapon or a house so that they can carry it around with them. This is a revolutionary product that changes how people use their tools/devices/vehicles forever. It is so good, even bad guys like the Red Ribbon Army use DynoCaps.
2. Sindria Trading Company (Magi)
Compared to other anime in this list, the one that has the most fascinating world-building has to be Magi. There are so many different kingdoms that have their own unique culture and style in this anime. However, even during this time when most people in the world are still doing business within their local community, there’s already a multinational company that does business all over the globe. Its name is Sindria Trading Company.
Sindria Trading Company was founded and led by a man named Sinbad. He was just a poor kid who had an ambitious goal in his mind when he started the company. Thanks to his wit, hard work, and the help of his trusted friends, they manage to slowly but surely turn Sindria Trading Company into a colossal entity that does business all over the world. There’s nobody in this world who doesn’t know about this company. And thanks to the massive amount of money and influence that they have, Sinbad and co. even managed to form their own country, the Sindria Kingdom, which quickly rose to become one of the superpowers in world politics.
1. Benerit Group (Gundam: The Witch From Mercury)
On the topic of the biggest company in anime, then we have to include Anaheim Electronics from the Universal Century Gundam. After all, this is the company that creates Gundam, the majority of Mobile Suits for the Earth Federations, and lots of other types of weapons, electronic devices, and vehicles as well. They even sell some of their stuff to the Principality of Zeon. That is why it’s not an exaggeration to say that Anaheim Electronics is the biggest company in the universe. At least that is the case until Gundam: The Witch From Mercury enters the fray.
Rather than the typical political intrigue that has become the backbone of the U.C. Gundam’s stories, The Witch From Mercury focuses on Economic War instead. In this universe, there are tons of mega-corporations that work on all kinds of facets of our life, such as Peil Technologies, Jeturk Heavy Machinery, Shin Sei Development, etc. All of the aforementioned Mega Corporations are part of the Benerit Group, along with other 150+ giant companies. With that much money, power, and influence from all kinds of companies from every corner of the universe, it’s safe to say that the Benerit Group is easily the biggest company in anime.
Final Thoughts
Whether they are part of the problems or part of the solutions, these companies are still an integral part of their respective series. And more often than not, these fictional companies behave just like you would expect any major company would act in real life. Which is basically walking the thin line between good and evil all the time. You may like them or hate them, but let’s all agree to appreciate the author and the creators of these anime for crafting these companies, their iconic products, and the role that they play in the story.
