As the seasons change and the new year comes, old things are replaced with the new. Such is the cycle of life. As the seasons of anime change as well, it is time to update our anime watchlists with new anime for the season, Winter 2021. There are so many good sequels coming out next year and we did an article on the five most anticipated continuing anime—linked below this article. But for anyone who wants something new, something exciting and something worthwhile without any catching up to do, here are five new anime of Winter 2021 that the anime community is looking forward to.
5. Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun (Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki)
Fumiya Tomozaki can win any game in an instant, being one of the best gamers in Japan, except the game of life. He considers life to be a horrible game with no clear rules until he meets a gamer who is just as good as him, Aoi Hinami. Aoi hopes to teach Fumiya the beauty of life and to no longer be a low-tier character in life. Is life really a horrible game or a good one?
The Low Tier Character Tomozaki-kun is anticipated because we all love our social outcasts with their fresh, cynically realistic views on life. Adapted from a light novel, we can expect to see our characters grow for better or for worse together. If you like drama set in school, you’d definitely enjoy this anime!

4. Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi (Redo of Healer)
“Healing magicians cannot fight alone.” Crippled by this common knowledge, healing magicians like Keare were exploited by other magicians, who considered themselves stronger, for their benefit. Oppressed to feel like they are not good enough magicians, Keare finds out that perhaps healing magic is the strongest of them all but it’s too late. Keare uses his healing magic “to heal” the world and resets it to four years ago.
This anime brings something new to the fantasy genre where the main character himself is powerful yet sick in his mind from all the oppression he has faced all his life. With power and insanity, is the world in good hands or does someone else need to step up to stop Keare from getting his way? If you like ecchi and fantasy, this is one anime you should not miss!

3. Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation)
Up next, we have...you guessed it, an isekai anime! Mushoku Tensei follows the death of 34-year old NEET who is reincarnated in a world of magic as a newborn baby, Rudeus Greyrat. With the mind and experience of a grown man, Rudeus vows to lead a fulfilling life, one that is not like his previous otaku life. However, underneath that innocent exterior, Rudeus is still a pervert as he uses his appearance to his advantage to hit on women.
Mushoku Tensei already sets itself apart from other isekai with its difference in reincarnation. Rudeus is reincarnated as a newborn baby, not as an already grown man. We can expect this anime to follow his life from birth as he learns more about his new world and acquires various skills to survive in it. For all isekai lovers who want something new, this one should definitely not be missed!

2. Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? (So I’m a Spider, So What?)
We have another isekai anime that everyone is looking forward to this season! Kumoko and her classmates are caught up in an explosion and reincarnated in a different world. However, Kumoko is the only one who is reincarnated as a spider. With overwhelming positivity and adaptability, she quickly learns to fend for herself despite being the girl with the lowest reputation in her previous life.
So I’m a Spider, So what? is an isekai but this time..with a female protagonist! This anime is the most anticipated because Kumoko and her classmates are all reincarnated in a new world together. They’re forced to deal with the aftermath of their deaths together as they learn to survive in this new world, looking past the prejudices of their previous life. Winter 2021 seems to be a great year for isekai anime with new twists!

1. Horimiya
The most anticipated new anime of Winter 2021 is Horimiya. Horimiya is a story with the theme that appearances can be deceptive. Kyouko Hori is a high school student who looks fun and outgoing with great grades but in reality, she is at home looking after her younger brother leaving no room for socialization. Izumi Miyamura looks like your average nerd and otaku with zero social skills. But in reality, he is gentle and inept at studying with nine piercings hidden behind his long hair. What happens when these two people meet and they’re nothing like the other expects?
We at Honey’s Anime are looking forward to this anime greatly! Adapted from an acclaimed manga, the anime is set in school with romantic and comedy elements focusing on relationships and friendships. The manga won many hearts with its realistic development between the two characters. We can definitely expect the anime to be just as good, as we watch Kyouko and Izumi grow closer looking past their initial opinions of each other!
