5 Most Anticipated New Ecchi Manga of 2022

Here at Honey’s Anime, we’ve been covering the latest manga releasing throughout 2022. But we’ve missed one of the biggest (and best) genres out there — ecchi! Whether it’s skimpy clothes or a well-timed boob gag, the ecchi genre blends seamlessly with action, comedy, and romance alike!

We might be halfway through the year, but fret not! There are plenty of ecchi manga releasing in the back half of 2022.

So join us today on Honey’s Anime as we talk about the 5 Most Anticipated New Ecchi Manga of 2022!

5. Musume Janakute, Watashi ga Suki Nano!? (You Like Me, Not My Daughter?!)

  • Authors: Nozomi Kouta (Story), Azuma Tesshin (Art)
  • Genres: Comedy, Ecchi, Romance, Seinen, Slice of Life
  • Volumes: 1+
  • Published: November 2022

Let’s kick off our list with an age-gap ecchi romance! In Musume Janakute, Watashi ga Suki Nano!? (You Like Me, Not My Daughter?!), thirty-year-old “MILF next door” Ayako is confessed to by college student Takumi…the boy she’s watched grow up for the past decade. Does this lonely older woman really have a second chance at love?!

Up until now, Ayako was sure that Takumi liked her adopted daughter instead, but it turns out he’s been harboring feelings for Ayako for years! This ecchi comedy promises a lot of “pent-up emotion” with a romantic slice-of-life bent, and the age gap will be significant to navigate, similar to Choppiri Toshiue Demo Kanojo ni Shite Kuremasu ka? (Are You Okay With a Slightly Older Girlfriend?).

4. Gahi-chan!

  • Authors: Tirota
  • Genres: Comedy, Ecchi, Fantasy, Romance, Shounen, Slice of Life
  • Volumes: 1+
  • Published: August 2022

Coming in on the more “adult” end of the ecchi spectrum is Gahi-chan!, a dark fantasy turned sexy rom-com!

A starving, down-on-his-luck manga artist gets the break of his life when he meets a beautiful but deadly “gahi.” This specific type of youkai — the Japanese term for a mischievous spirit, rather than an evil demon — can transform her appearance by absorbing a drawing!

Now our mangaka protagonist has the perfect muse to bring his own manga to life… that is, if the cheeky little gahi living under his roof doesn’t eat his drawings first! This might sound like a dream come true, but he’ll have to survive the machinations of this loli-youkai and somehow keep his sanity intact!

Enjoy the fantasy of your very own shape-shifter when Gahi-chan! releases in August 2022.

3. Seiken Gakuin no Maken Tsukai (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy)

Seiken Gakuin no Maken Tsukai (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy) takes Leonis into the titular Excalibur Academy, where he’s surrounded by more gorgeous girls than you could imagine! In the meantime, Leonis gets closer to discovering the truth behind his millennium-long sleep, and the grim fate that befell humanity…

Based on the light novels of the same name, The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy will be awakening at your local bookstore in October 2022.

2. Tonari no Nobukuni-san wa Ore no Koto ga Suki na Ki ga Suru (I Get the Feeling That Nobukuni-san Likes Me)

  • Authors: Yasuda Kousuke
  • Genres: Ecchi, Romance, School Life, Seinen, Slice of Life
  • Volumes: 1+
  • Published: November 2022

We often see young love in manga, but let’s be honest, teenagers are doing more than just having their first kiss! Learning the ropes of love is one thing, but what about the art of seduction?

The titular Nobukuni-san stars as our heroine in Tonari no Nobukuni-san wa Ore no Koto ga Suki na Ki ga Suru (I Get the Feeling That Nobukuni-san Likes Me). When she realizes she’s in love with her crush, Sasaki, she takes matters into her own hands and attempts to seduce him!

Offering a totally fresh take on the “teen romance” subgenre, I Get the Feeling That Nobukuni-san Likes Me is a light-hearted ecchi romp about the trials and tribulations of first love and seduction!

Check out I Get the Feeling That Nobukuni-san Likes Me when it hits shelves in November 2022.

1. Ayakashi Triangle

  • Authors: Yabuki Kentaro
  • Genres: Action, Comedy, Ecchi, Harem, Mystery, Romance, School Life, Supernatural
  • Volumes: 1+
  • Published: November 2022

Taking our number-one spot on this list is a manga with broad appeal that manages to mix together action, ecchi, and serious (but not overtly heavy-handed) discussions of gender and sex.

From the famously ecchi mangaka of Black Cat and To Love Ru comes another romantic comedy fantasy that’s loaded with fan service and lewdness in all the right ways — and already has an anime confirmed for a 2023 release!

Ayakashi Triangle features Matsuri, an exorcist who tries to defeat ayakashi — evil spirits. During a battle to save his childhood friend, Suzu, he is cursed by the King of Ayakashi and is forced to live as a girl until he can break his curse!

Praise for Ayakashi Triangle extends to its depiction of sexual orientation and romantic attraction that extends beyond sex or gender. Despite being turned into a girl, Matsuri and Suzu’s romantic feelings for each other are still growing strong, while Suzu grapples with notions of being queer since she’s attracted to Matsuri regardless of whether he’s a boy or girl.

And as we mentioned earlier, Yabuki is known for his ecchi illustrations, with the print versions of his works containing fully uncensored nudity — and boy, is there a lot of nudity in Ayakashi Triangle, although it’s worth noting that only the physical Seven Seas Entertainment volumes are uncensored (Viz digital versions will be censored).

Get caught up on the manga before the anime debuts next year, when Ayakashi Triangle releases this November!
