Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo (ORESUKI Are You the Only One Who Loves Me?) Preview (No Spoilers)

Joro has expertly crafted his high school persona to be the caring and supportive but aloof anime protag to best increase his chances with girls. Imagine his surprise when two of his female friends ask him out not for a date, but to ask for his help getting a date with Joro’s best friend Sun-chan!

Cosmos and Himawari would both make cute girlfriends and Joro very much resents the supporting role. However, he realizes Sun-chan can only choose one and Joro decides to take whichever girl gets rejected. Things become more complicated when the unsightly school library aide Pansy reveals herself to be Joro’s stalker and confesses she loves the true scheming Joro.

Pansy Highlights (Spoilers Beyond This Point)

1. Totally Unmoved by Insults and Emotional Outbursts

No one likes being yelled at or called names and no one would blame you for reacting harshly if it happened to you. Yet Pansy remains totally calm even when people are yelling at her or saying horrible things to her. When it’s Joro insulting her, she even likes it as a mark of his honesty.

She’s not a masochist, she just is very sure of herself and very good at reading people. She’s the type of girl that wants you to speak your mind and not sugarcoat things. Even if you get emotional, she’ll still calmly speak to you without trying to be nasty hateful. A truly easy person to talk to!

2. Pansy’s Multiple-Person Setup in Episode 3

This is where we see Pansy’s true genius and foresight. Just as she knew Joro’s true nature, she saw right through Sun-chan’s sunny disposition. After Sun-chan lays a jealousy-fueled trap to get all the girls to hate Joro, Pansy pretends to befriend him. She has Joro come to the library and sends him out of sight just as Sun-chan appears to share lunch with her. She asks him to explain why he trapped Joro, pointing out all the things she noticed about him and the lies she saw through.

Backed into a corner, Sun-chan’s forced to reveal his dark thoughts, going so far as to threaten Pansy as no one will come to save her. Having heard enough, Joro steps in and shames Sun-chan for making light of people’s feelings. After they both leave, Pansy calls out to the other two hidden students, Himawari and Cosmos, now knowing Joro’s true intentions. This makes them want to help fix Joro’s reputation. Not only does Pansy come up with a great plan to trap Sun-chan, she makes it so that others want to help her love too.

3. She Doesn’t Expect Her Feelings to Be Reciprocated

Pansy’s obsessed with Joro and isn’t above light threats to get him to come see her, but she’s very clear that she doesn’t expect him to love her. She takes all the verbal abuse he throws at her because she understands the inconvenience she’s placing on him with her selfish desires. Still, she’s just so happy to be in his presence and to hear him talk. She loves him openly and honestly, yet has realistic expectations for his feelings about her, which is not a common trait in obsessive girls.

4. Just as Comfortable Dressed Up as Dressed Down

Pansy has an incredible busty body, beautiful eyes, and pretty hair. Most of this she obscures daily with glasses, braids, and modest clothing. Pansy’s confidence doesn’t rely on her appearance though, and she seems just as comfortable in her unflattering school attire as she is in a revealing bikini. She knows she can stop men with her beauty but only does so when it’s convenient for her. She’s very aware of how differently people perceive her based on how she presents herself but is unapologetic in how she chooses to dress.

5. Cookie Queen

We love a girl who can bake! Pansy is a great cookie-maker and makes them quite often for the object of her stalking. She’s quite generous too and makes plenty for her new friends/romantic rivals. She’s even agreed to teach Cosmos how to make them. Pansy is talented AND generous!

Final Thoughts

Pansy might at first seem like a creepy, off-putting freak but under the façade is a very attentive, no-nonsense sweetheart that just so happens to have a penchant for stalking. She’s a diamond in the rough. Her beauty is revealed to those she deems worthy but she is unabashedly herself to anyone.

Hey friends! I reside in Georgia and use my degree in Japanese primarily to (barely) read doujinshi that hasn’t been translated. Beyond deciding who is best girl in whatever I happen to be watching, I really enjoy ballroom dancing, reading, crying over dating sims, karaoke, and being surrounded by beautiful things~ (You know, scenery, décor, boys, stuff like that). I also love talking about passions with others!
