6 Anime Like Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo (ORESUKI Are you the Only One Who Loves Me?) [Recommendations]

Anime has truly made romance comedies from some of the wildest situations possible. We’ve seen dozens of rom-coms deal with alien romances, demon romances and high schoolers who already could be considered stalkers…yeah anime romance comedies are indeed weird. That being said, the stranger the series, the more you lose yourself in it thanks to strong characters and unusually funny situations for our main romance-driven protagonist.

A prime example of this is the series Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo--Oresuki for short-- which has been one of the more popular fall anime series this 2019 season! Take a two-faced nice guy student and make it so he has to deal with a multitude of miscommunications, odd love triangles and a female lead who is obsessed with his “darker” side and you have the perfect recipe for a solid show in our opinion. Unfortunately, since Oresuki is still airing each time you watch a weekly episode you’re left with a gaping hole in your heart as you wait yet another week for that coveted next episode. Don’t fret readers, we have 6 Anime Like Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo that you can enjoy—and binge—to find some truly outlandish romance comedies just like this amazing show!

If there is one series on our list of 6 Anime Like Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo it would be Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Focusing on characters who are truly quite different, Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. constantly made us laugh as we watched our protagonist—Hachiman—endure strange requests and end up in an even stranger love triangle. Even as Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. leaned towards more dramatic moments/themes, the series never strayed from its romance comedy routes and we can see that very clearly in Oresuki. Thankfully, Kodaka will soon meet others who struggle to make friends and in turn these teens will join forces to make a club exclusively aimed at gathering friends!

Episode one of Oresuki. quickly established that our main cast wasn’t going to be ordinary by any stretch of the imagination. Yet, this cast of oddities is what makes each episode unpredictable. What will happen next, who will fall in love with who next week and will our main character ever get that love he desires? Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai echoes the themes in Oresuki. by having a cast of random boys and girls whose personalities are so outlandish you can’t see people like them exist in the real world. Watching them overcome their personality problems and make friends, though, is a heartwarming experience and one that makes every episode powerful and enjoyable. Can Yuuta lead a normal school life or will he end up wrapped up in Rikka’s strange fictional fallacies?!

Anime is a great medium if you love to think of yourself as one of the onscreen characters. The ideals of being a super-powered warrior or hero is often experienced by most anime viewers, and that’s perfectly fine to be honest. Oddly enough, our main characters from both these series could be brothers. Amatsuyu and Yuuta both envision themselves in a different setup—Yuuta tries to grow out of this but you’ll see that isn’t an easy task—but end up in situations they didn’t see coming. That’s why Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! is the perfect series to enjoy if you like Oresuki. Sometimes in life, you just need to realize that fate isn’t something we can always control and you’ll end up in situations you could never expect.

5. Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka? (Hensuki: Are you willing to fall in love with a pervert, as long as she’s a cutie?)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: July, 2019- September, 2019

Many teens have different goals when they enter school. Some want to earn good grades to enter a prestigious academy. Others want a fun-filled school life with friends. Now Keiki must do some detective work and figure out which girl in his school would do such a perverted action to show their love for him. However, as he digs deeper into this mystery, he begins to learn some questionable things about the girls around him…

Perverted themes of love make both Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka? and Oresuki. so similar! Both shows have characters who are clearly in love with someone but their love can be quite…odd. As weird as the romance might seem on paper for Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka?, the show enjoys a nice story due to that crazy perversion of the genre. Ecchi fans will also no doubt love Kawaikereba Hentai demo Suki ni Natte Kuremasu ka? as there’s a heaping amount of it in almost every episode. Though, that shouldn’t be too surprising when the first episode opens with a guy getting a girl’s panties in a love letter.

6. Masamune-kun no Revenge (Masamune-Kun’s Revenge)

  • Episodes: 12
  • Aired: January, 2017- March, 2017

As a kid, Masamune Makabe was overweight and had no friends…well, Makabe had one friend. Befriended by a rich girl—Aki Adagaki—Makabe thought he could find happiness. Aki isn’t aware of who Makabe is but someone knows of his past and Makabe now needs to race against the clock to locate this unknown source of knowledge and prevent his plan from being discovered!

Rejection is a painful and seemingly endless feeling. Luckily, anime characters usually go through it so we don’t have to constantly endure it. While Makabe wasn’t rejected by two girls like Kisaragi was, that doesn’t mean their stories are that much different. Masamune-kun no Revenge focuses on a more twisted rom-com set up but like Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo., the two series work best due to their unique takes on the genre. Masamune-kun no Revenge still needs a second season but we loved the first and think fans of Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo. will like it too!
