Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku Preview (No Spoilers)

In a very popular mobile game called Magical Girl Raising Project, people get to play as magical girls. That is until it's revealed that a lucky few can become magical girls in real life! This sounds exciting and the chosen 16 can't believe their luck, they've become official magical girls! Shortly after, the lucky winners find out that the number of magical girls in their district needs to be halved. From there, the girls must collect candies by doing good deeds as the girls with the least candies will be eliminated. However, there are other ways of getting rid of the competition, and the race for survival gets out of hand.

Shizuku Ashuu Bio

Seiyuu Name: Yuu Kobayashi

Shizuku Ashuu is a college student and the girlfriend of Nana Habutae (Sister Nana), who she's been with for a long time. We don't really know much else about her, other than she and Nana are very close, very in love, and Nana is the only reason Shizuku even picked up the Magical Girl Raising Project game. Shizuku's name in the game is Weiss Winterprison, which Nana picked for her when she got her to start playing the game. When they both become real magical girls, Winterprison seems to only exist to accompany and back up Nana, both while helping others and in battle.

Shizuku Ashuu Highlights

1. Cool Beauty

The Japanese phrase “cool beauty” is generally used to refer to beautiful, strong, and usually quiet girls. Weiss Winterprison/ Shizuku Ashuu is the very embodiment of the term. She is stoic, quiet, respectful, fashionable and of course, beautiful. In fact, the author of Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku has said that she is ranked as the #1 most beautiful person before transforming.

Her effortless beauty can be seen especially in her regular form when we see her and Nana interacting. She's tall and slender, has porcelain skin, rosy cheeks and a very stylish hairstyle that suits her personality and outfits. Speaking of outfits, hers is a simple button-down shirt with suspenders and black slacks; her self-confidence and attitude make her incredibly attractive all on their own! In her magical girl form, however, she does go all out with her badass trench coat embellished with buckles and other hardware and her signature scarf. She can make any girl or guy weak in the knees just by looking at her!

2. Strong Inside and Out

Winterprison is certainly one of the strongest magical girls. She was able to go toe-to-toe and survive in a fight against veteran Cranberry, who won the last magical girl contest with her wit, strength and total disregard for life. Cranberry was actually itching to fight Winterprison precisely because of her strength, but using both fists and her magical barriers, Winterprison keeps her at bay. She also gives Calamity Mary a run for her money when she's dead-set on getting rid of both her and Nana for good, and Swim Swim assumes that if she beats Winterprison she will surpass Ruler. Nana also mentions she's athletic, which means Shizuku is physically strong in her human form as well.

Of course, one can't be brave enough to stand up to crazies like these without also having a strong heart. Winterprison stays cool and collected, no matter the situation. When Cranberry cornered them and refused to have a calm conversation, Winterprison was able to calmly retreat. You never see her lose herself, even in the most dire of situations. She also has a very strong sense of justice, which shows her inherently good nature.

3. The Most Supportive Partner

As we mentioned earlier, the only reason Shizuku started playing the game at all was because of Nana. That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how supportive they are of each other. When Sister Nana is telling Magicaloid44 about Shizuku, she says that she knows that Shizuku values her above all else. This is evident throughout the series, like when Ripple rejects Sister Nana's request to band together and find a peaceful solution to their situation; even though she'd rather not, Shizuku is all for it when Nana mentions she wants to continue trying to talk to the other girls about it.

We always see Winterprison next to or just behind Sister Nana, always having her back no matter the circumstances. Though there are several instances, one of them is when Cranberry tells Sister Nana to stop trying to ruin the game; Winterprison's first reaction is to stand in front of Sister Nana to protect her since she can tell right away that Cranberry is up to no good. And afterward, even though she'd rather stay inside where they're safe, Shizuku goes along with Nana's wishes to keep teaching the new girl. No matter what Nana's goals are or what situation they're in, Shizuku/Winterprison is always there for her and willing to give everything to help, support and protect her lover.

4. A Hopeless Romantic

While Nana and Shizuku are the only real couple in the series, they aren't like most anime couples. When in their human forms, they are almost always shown holding each other or with Nana in Shizuku's arms. Shizuku is not afraid to physically show her affection for Nana or her attraction to her, often caressing her face or simply cuddling with her. The way she looks at Nana alone clearly shows how in love she is with her. She only wants to see her happy.

In a flashback to their college days, Nana mentions how Shizuku's hands are like magic because they make her happy just by holding her. In the same flashback, we learn that Nana gave Shizuku a long black scarf for her birthday and that's why Winterprison's signature item is a similar black scarf. It means a lot to her because it reminds her of her love, and she let Nana name her Magical girl character too, showing she's only in the game out of her love for nana. Even as she's dying, her sole concern is for Nana, telling her with her last breath to stay safe.

5. Great Instincts

Another thing we quickly notice about Shizuku/Winterprison is that she catches on very quickly to what's going on and what people's intentions are. Like when they ask Magicaloid44 to help them; Winterprison seems skeptical of her at first until Magicaloid44 agrees to help, but then quickly has her fears confirmed when she asks Sister Nana for money.

The same thing happens when Cranberry calls them to the quarry to”talk”; Winterprison can feel in her gut that there's something afoot, while Nana truly believes it may be for a positive reason. She may just seem distrusting towards anyone who's not Nana, but she's simply very smart and an excellent judge of character, seeing through to everyone's true intentions. Unfortunately for her, Nana's optimism and Nativity makes Shizuku ignore her instincts and end up in battles, injured and eventually dead.

Final Thoughts

It's hard not to fall in love with Winterprison/Shizuku, whether it's because of her cool and collected attitude, her beautiful features or her romantic side. One can't deny that she is the kind of partner many girls (and even some guys!) dream of, and a force to be reckoned with in the world of Magical Girl Raising Project. You were gone too soon Weiss Winterprison.

An otaku as far as I can remember. I grew up playing video games, watching anime in Spanish in Mexico where I grew up, and then was a member of both anime clubs at UTEP for my entire university life when I moved to Texas. I love going to cons, I used to cosplay (always hoping to get back into it), and I got to live in Japan for 2 years and be an otaku there! It was literally a dream come true! Now back in the US, I love being a writer and editor for Honey’s. It’s a great chance to keep up with all the latest anime each season and up to date with all otaku news. And without our readers, that wouldn’t be possible so, thank you for being a part of our hive!!
