Harada Misao has always had the ability to see demons, but as a child, she had a boy protector who saved her from her troubles. One day as she arrives at home, it turns out that she has a new neighbor who introduces himself as the boy, Kyou, who used to protect her. Before Misao can process this, her 16th birthday comes the next day and she finds herself wounded by a classmate who is a demon in disguise. Kyou quickly saves Misao and gives her two choices: become his bride and bring prosperity to the Tengu clan or lose his protection.

If you are looking for smut, supernatural romance, and a dark story like Midnight Secretary, then stop and check out Black Bird. Many shoujo fans around will tell you about the popularity that is Black Bird. This 18 volume manga will take you through much of the mystery involved with Misao’s life as well as her feelings of being used for her blood. The dynamic between Misao and Kyou is very similar to Kyouhei and Kaya with Kyou playing the dominant type and Misao the helpless type forced into her position with very few options. Perhaps you are looking for something that has some of the touches of Midnight Secretary without any of the seriousness? Well, look no further than Miyagi Riko’s Love Monster. Love Monster has the supernatural romance involved in Midnight Secretary except it involves tengu instead of vampires, but we’ll tell you that the smut is still there *wink wink*. This long shoujo manga will take you through the mystery that is Hiyo as she tries to figure out exactly why she’s at this school and help out all of the broken souls around her. Love Monster takes on a sort of reverse harem setting, but the character development and plot progression keep this from being any sort of cookie cutter reverse harem!

Miko is a talentless shrine maiden. One day, she meets a demon named Kagura who has an appetite for the love and passions of women. Kagura has left all the girls at school brokenhearted with his pursuit of a meal so Miko casts a spell on him which is the first to work! Well, but now, Kagura is after Miko!

Are you tired of all of these supernatural relationships yet? Well, here’s another one by Shinjou Mayu, but this one is much newer than Akuma na Eros. Here, we have a girl who has always lived amongst the supernatural and wanted to make it her life. However, she ends up with a demon who chases after her after having taken away his ability to attack the others. Like Midnight Secretary, this supernatural romance will develop over the course of several volumes. Enjoy the dynamic between these two characters as they explore love and their sexuality through the pages of this supernatural romance manga.

Kindan no Koi wo Shiyou is one of the older works on this list, but don’t count it out yet! Kindan no Koi wo Shiyou was written by the same mangaka as Midnight Secretary, Ohmi Tomu with a focus on the supernatural relationship between a human and a werewolf, although beware, this smut manga does take it a bit far in terms of *ahem* relations. However, it is obvious that Kindan no Koi wo Shiyou is Ohmi Tomu’s attempts of trying to feel out the market and find her place in the shoujo manga world. While it may not be everything that Midnight Secretary is, you will still have a rather steamy romance between a mortal human and a werewolf that shows that romance isn’t all about...species? If you want something short that has more of the smut from Midnight Secretary without the character development, you may want to consider checking out Kindan no Koi wo Shiyou.

Kyouko has never had anyone around her as she has never made any friends and her parents were constantly at work. That changes when Kyouko rescues Lucifer, the Prince of the Underworld. This results in Lucifer declaring that he wants Kyouko as his wife. Then suddenly, Kyouko’s crush, Ishii, wants her to himself!

If you have ever read a Saijou Ayano manga, you’d know how dominant the male characters can be. Lucier is no different and Kyouko is hardly different from Ayano’s usual female tropes. This oneshot has a similar mold to Midnight Secretary with Lucifer taking on the same role as Kyouhei and Kyouko being the mortal Kaya who falls in love with Lucifer the way Kaya does Kyouhei. If you want a supernatural romance with smut and a bit of that *ahem* excitement in a short package, Akuma to Tsuki no Yoru is for you.
