Anime Recipes – Melon Soda Float from Isekai Shokudou
It is time once again for anime recipes! With Isekai Shokudou on air and showing two dishes an episode, we are working hard to bring you more of what you love and breaking down recipes to make them easy for you. Melon Soda Floats seem easy and that is because they are! It’s really simple, it’s cheap, and if you live in the South or a hot place, melon soda floats are an excellent way to beat the heat once in awhile. You only need a few ingredients to catapult your tastebuds to Nekoya from Isekai Shokudou.

This time around, we met Renner, who was Shareef’s half-sister. He comes here for the iced coffee which, do we even need to explain how to make it? Just add ice. No literally. But she comes here with him for something special. There is something about the mixture of the crushed ice, the carbonation of the melon soda and the ice cream that sends her into a tizzy and she delightfully enjoys what is in front of her. You just need some ice, soda, and a few other things! Let’s go!

Melon Soda Float from Isekai Shokudou

Soda Floats, or rather the Melon Soda Float, is not unique to Japan. However, due to western influence after the country opened up, people started to learn of this treat. While we treat it as a dessert in the west, it can be a snack here. Heading to a café with your friends? Want something to drink or eat while you study? This is the snack for you. Sure it’s not super nutritious, but sometimes we all have that urge for something sweet and this is what will hit the spot. The big thing here is not to overthink it and do not flood the counter or the plate your glass is on. Everyone young and old loves this treat in Japan, so hopefully you will too!

What You Will Need:

melon soda.
1 can

Ice

vanilla ice cream.
1-2 scoops

cherry. Maraschino works fine.
1

Optional Notes:

Melon soda is the best kind of this recipe however… unless you are somewhere in Asia, it may be very difficult to get your hands on it. In that case, what we recommend is purchasing carbonated water and melon syrup. It gets the job done all the same, but it’s just cheaper to get your hands on melon soda overall. Plus, you’ll have melon syrup leftover. However, the choice is yours and if you love it, you can always make it again another time.

How to Cook It:

  1. 1

    Break out your crushed ice.
  2. 2

If you don’t have it, some refrigerators have an ice dispenser which will crush it for you. Try that too. If all else fails, put it in a Ziploc bag and go to town on it with a rolling pin or something sturdy to crush it.
  3. 3

You want to fill about 70-80% of the glass with the ice.
  4. 4

Next, add in your soda, but be sure to leave about 20-15% on top to leave room for the ice cream.
  5. 5

After that, scoop out your vanilla ice cream. Use 1-2 scoops depending on how large your scooper is.
  6. 6

Top it with a cherry and serve with a long, narrow spoon. Enjoy both the soda and the ice cream at the same time rather than just at once for a better, more fulfilling experience!

(Note: There is nothing really dangerous or something that you need to watch out for, so just have fun! )

Yum!

Final Thought

If you do end up making this one, then be sure to let us know if you had as much fun consuming it as Renner did. Maybe you don’t have the over-the-top reaction that she did with each bite, but we are sure that you can enjoy this sweet treat nonetheless. If you have questions or concerns, please let us know too as well. Isekai Shokudou is well on its way to making us fatter here at Honey’s Anime, but we are really looking forward to what the anime brings us each week! Let us know what dish you have loved so far below too! Till next time,
