BanG Dream! 2nd Season Introduction and Story
Now that they are all 2nd-year students, the members of Poppin'Party are busier than ever. With jobs, student council work, and school getting in their way, the band starts to get together less. After the girls perform alongside Afterglow, Roselia, and Hello, Happy World!, they decide to put on their own performance. Now with the combination of the previous responsibilities and having to plan a live show, the girls' lives just got a lot more complicated.
1. The Characters
With so many new characters in BanG Dreams second season, there is sure to be at least one character everyone will love. Poppin'Party is still the main focus of the anime, but the addition of all the new bands makes everything a lot more interesting. With so many unique characters and personalities, the anime is able to do so much more than it was able to do in the first season.
2. The Music
If there is one thing you would hope a music anime would do well, it is the music. BanG Dream! 2nd Season does not disappoint on that front. Over the course of the anime, there are a ton of different openings, endings, and insert songs for you to enjoy. Thanks to all the bands in the anime, there is a wide variety of songs with different styles.
1. Reliance on Previous Entries
Coming into an anime's second season you usually need to experience the first season to fully grasp and enjoy the anime, but the BanG Dream's second season gets a little more complicated. Although it isn't necessary to enjoy the second season, coming in with prior knowledge of the characters through either the mobile game or the spin-off series makes everything a lot more enjoyable and manageable. The series does a pretty good job introducing the new characters during the first few episodes, but there is a lot you can miss if you aren't familiar with the entirety of the BanG Dream! universe.
2. The Story
While this story is the best in the series so far, it still isn’t great. The story focuses on all of the bands running into various issues and through the power of hard work and friendship, they are able to overcome them. BanG Dream! tries some deeper and more dramatic stories like Tae’s situation with Raise A Suilen, but it just comes off too silly to take seriously.
3. Too Many Characters
Despite having a bunch of great characters, one of the anime’s weak points is just how many of them there are. With five main bands and some other side characters, there are over 30 characters the anime focuses on. This leads to many of the girls not getting a ton of screen time and development.
Final Thoughts
BanG Dream! is fun anime with great characters and tons of fantastic music. While the anime may not blow you away with the story, there is still plenty here to enjoy if you like the other entries in the BanG Dream! universe. What did you think of Bang Dream! 2nd Season?
