Humans love partying but they also love lots of pizza too. Who would’ve thought that sloths also find pizza to be delicious, too? Battlesloths 2025: The Great Pizza Wars is an all out fast paced multiplayer title, that pits you up against other sloths who are hungry for that slice of pizza. It’s a wild and frantic spectacle that has plenty of replay value should you have friends around to play with you. There’s an online mode that comes along with the title so if no one seems to be around, then you could easily opt for the online experience. We’ll get more into that later but for now we’ll say that, if you enjoy a 2D arena style multiplayer shooting game then Battlesloths 2025: The Great Pizza Wars is certainly the perfect slice for you.

What to Expect

Anyone who has dabbled with arena shooters will know that you’re thrown into a pit full of sharks (or in this case sloths) and you’ll need to protect your neck at all times since everyone is coming at you from every corner. Battleslothes 2025: The Great Pizza Wars is funny in its approach and entertaining in the long run simply because, there’s so much satisfaction in being able to decimate your opponent with a ray gun and collect your pizza rewards. Speaking of weapons, there are roughly over 20 to choose from, all of which come with their own unique properties. There are 4 game modes, The ability to customize your battle settings, free for all, nuke mode, and many more. You can also ride on a hoverboard, too, so that in itself is pretty stellar as well. This is certainly a party game through and through and while it does come loaded with online features, Battlesloths 2025: The Great Pizza Wars is definitely a game worth playing with a group of people while perhaps indulging in your own slice of pizza at the same time.

So before we get into the good side of the game, let’s look at what could be better. Firstly, while online mode is certainly an added bonus to the game, we had very little success finding other players to play with. This resulted in us having to play either against the bots or calling up a friend or two to play things out. As we stated earlier, Battlesloths 2025: The Great Pizza Wars certainly gravitates more towards the local multiplayer experience because it has all the right perks to really generate a lot of excitement in person. The competitiveness is there but you just don’t receive that same result when trying to play online. We waited upwards of about 10 minutes for a match only to receive nothing in the end, which was a total bummer for us. Perhaps the game didn’t receive a lot of publicity and so, not many players were aware of it, and should that be the case then hopefully our review will provide the spotlight it needs to get started.

We want to stress that despite our experience with the online mode, let that not deter you from trying it out yourself because everyone’s experience will surely differ. Take it with a grain of salt. Speaking of experience let’s dive more into what the game has to offer in terms of modes and what you can do in the single player realm. So once you log into the game you can choose from turbo mode or sloth mode, the latter being the slower paced and more tactical of the two, but not as frenzied as it’s turbo brethren. Depending on your tastes, the two modes offer the same experience but just that one is like running a 100m dash, while the other is akin to taking a relaxing walk in the park. We dabbled with both and truly have to say the turbo mode is so much more enthralling than the sloth mode, just because you always have to be on alert not only of the hazards around you (this option can be turned off by the way) but the other players who are trying to collect their slices. The types of matches you can play are Slice Hunt, Golden Slice, Sloth Hunt, and Last Sloth Standing. Slice Hunt was perhaps our favorite of all the modes because everyone is out for the same slice, weapons are being spawned everywhere, and it’s just crazy because one moment you think you’ve won and then someone blows you away with a shotgun.

This whole back and forth style of gameplay is where Battlesloths 2025: The Great Pizza Wars shines because there’s never a guarantee of who will win, and it all solely depends on how well you can defend yourself while trying to collect all 4 slices. The animations in the game are well done and didn’t seem off putting even with so much happening on screen. It reminded us of a 2D top down version of Quake, but instead of humans and other kooky characters, you have a bunch of sloths that can equip hats and shoot you. What’s really odd is how sloths are generally very slow and often lazy creatures who love nothing more than a bowl of good food and plenty of naps. This isn’t the case in the game because these sloths are high on some kind of drug and you’re all over the place, which makes it very fun.

Honey's Gameplay Consensus:

So what’s our take on the whole thing? Well ,as we stated before, Battlesloths 2025: The Great Pizza Wars has plenty to dish out in terms of its features both single and online, but if you don’t have access to internet, let’s say and no friends are around to play with you locally, this game is pretty much an empty vessel. Perhaps the one thing that potentially hinders the game is that, you need to have people around to really get the best out of the entire experience, otherwise you’ve spent 14 dollars on a game that doesn’t do anything. So if you’re looking to pick this up, be sure that you have other friends on Steam who own it, so that way if you don’t have access to the internet at some point (yes this is a possibility) you’re not just sitting there playing with bots all day. Do we enjoy Battlesloths 2025: The Great Pizza Wars? Yes, we definitely found enjoyment in the many facets of its battle system, along with the plethora of weapons you can use to annihilate the enemy with. We only wish that there was some sort of story mode just to keep the single player side of things a little more entertaining, because nobody wants to just sit in front of their PC and shoot bots.

We do like that you can choose your preferred region while online to further help with finding players, but as we stated before, the game needs a larger player base to really spice things up. The music overall in the game was fitting for its very quirky gameplay, and the controls were quite smooth especially when using a controller. Keyboard and mouse is a little bland to be honest because you really want to optimize your accuracy, and for some reason playing on the controller benefits that twin-stick feature.

Honey's Pros:

  • Quirky yet very fun game with plenty of features for friends to play with.
  • Fast paced and entertaining.
  • Lots of cool weapons with unique features.
  • Very colorful stages.
  • Plenty of good humor.

Honey's Cons:

  • More single player content would’ve been nice (story mode, training mode, arcade mode).
  • Online mode didn’t seem to have many players which made it hard to match up with anyone.

Honey's Final Verdict:

Battlesloths 2025: The Great Pizza Wars is such a great party game and it truly stands out in that realm. Sitting in a room with a group of friends playing this is far better than sitting down and waiting for a long time just to get matched up with random people. That’s just our take on it all, but hey, if you enjoy the online atmosphere then it’s certainly there for you to take advantage of. If you want a nice quick multiplayer thrill then definitely grab this one, because you won’t be disappointed.
