We’re continuing on our trend of villains in My Hero One’s Justice, and in this breakdown we’re taking a look at the adorable-yet-deadly Toga. This is a very unique character in My Hero One’s Justice because her quirk is quite tricky, meaning that her game plan is to usually run away from the enemy, using her knives to avoid confrontation and then absorbing her opponent to become a clone of their main character, and their entire team. All this makes Toga arguably the most difficult character to master in the game, since she requires that you have a strong understanding of every character, not only in terms of their playstyle but also the way their sidekick functionality works. Let’s dive a little deeper into detail and give you more insight into Toga’s unique but very rewarding playstyle!
Toga’s Playstyle
Toga’s game plan is simple, but in order to really master her it will require a great amount of understanding. She’s a very zoning based character meaning that most of her time will be spent trying to attack the opponent from afar, looking to find the right chance to use her quirk ability to absorb your powers. Her quirk reaches almost the entire screen, giving her a long range advantage which means you’ll need to fight through her wall in order to break her. That’s not as easy because the quirk tracks you meaning that even if you try to dash away, the needles will still follow you which allows Toga to run away and maintain control with knives.
Once Toga gets to absorb you then it becomes a big problem because you’re essentially fighting in a mirror match and so, if you don’t know your own team well enough she can steamroll you in an instant. She’s like a counterpick character in many ways since she can use a lot of your own tricks against you, and once she’s in she stays there. Fortunately, her quick doesn’t last too long (roughly 10-15 seconds) which means that Toga needs to work hard, and work fast to kill you before her ability returns her to normal state. It’s sort of like a rinse and repeat scenario since you’ll need to resort back to zoning and trying to re-absorb the opponent, but once you do then your opponent will need to start guessing again. As a side note, once she does absorb you and your sidekicks she’s limited to ONLY using your team meaning, she is not able to use your Plus Ultra finisher. If Toga is to use the Plus Ultra she will automatically use her own. Please keep this in mind when using her. Toga’s combo game is fairly weak compared to majority of the cast since her overall strategy is to gain your powers against you and combo you.
Toga’s Preferred Sidekicks
Now this is where things get really interesting because as we stated earlier, Toga is all about mimicking her opponent’s quirk and sidekicks, and using it to her advantage. So in terms of her own sidekicks she’ll want to have a team that can protect her at all times, to annoy the enemy and create the right opening to absorb. She’s honestly one of the few characters in the game that can really use any sidekick to her advantage, and so we leave this section up to you to decide what works. We say this because let’s say you’re in a mirror match against another Toga, you’ll want to create a strategy around your team to see if your opponent is proficient enough with the sidekicks you’ve chosen.
It’s sort of like a mind game where you freestyle so that your opponent can never get the upper hand over you. Counterpick the counterpick! If we were to suggest any however our favorites would be Dabi for his superb tracking ball, and Denki to create traps to slow the enemy down. The world is your oyster with Toga so play with creativity and it will surely work in your favor!
Final Thoughts
Toga is very fun to play at a base level but if you’re looking to really take things seriously, she’s the hardest character in the game to really learn. So in closing, be sure to play with the entire cast and know just about everything in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. In doing so, you’ll have the upper hand in almost every scenario and no opponent will be able to stop your relentless pressure because well, they’ll never know what to expect! Next up on our villains list is Dabi so stay tuned for him!
