My Hero One’s Justice is out now and of course, there’s still plenty to learn with regards to characters and their potential. In today’s article we’ll be taking a look at the villain side of the cast and go over Tomura Shigaraki! Tomura’s playstyle reflects that of his character from the series, which is to be in your face at all times and create nothing but suffering once he smothers you. His assist is arguably one of the best in the game, perhaps even number one if you consider just how well he syncs with any character. With all those things considered, let’s hop into his gameplay style and see just what makes him tick.
Tomura’s Playstyle
As mentioned earlier, Tomura is a character that relies on heavy pressure to ensure his opponents don’t have a chance to breathe. His special abilities, such as his dark matter puddle, lock opponents in place which give him an easy entry into combo land and constant oppression, that makes it hard to keep him off of you. His attacks are safe on block, which allow you to maintain consistent pressure without giving the opponent time to breathe. Now as of this writing, Tomura did in fact have an infinite in the game but we assume that it has been patched out by the Bandai Namco team. The infinite allowed him to string together his bread and butter attack after locking the opponent down, taking advantage of the hit stun and dealing crazy damage for very little risk. Now you may not need to worry about that!
In spite of this, Tomura is still a very deadly character as he has a command grab which, if he’s able to successfully land three of them in-game, it’s an instant KO. His setplay allows him to establish control and land said command grab so be very mindful of this!
Tomura’s Preferred Sidekicks
Tomura’s assist is hands down the best lockdown assist in the game due to its high block stun, leaving opponents fishing for a way out if they’re fast enough. Tomura drops his dark matter puddle around the enemy and it does multiple hits, allowing you to approach and create pressure with your main character. That’s just his grounded version! His aerial assist is the command grab which chucks you back down to the ground to reset neutral, but also give you a chance to reset ground pressure.
While his aerial assist isn’t as potent as his grounded one, it still has its uses as it can be mainly a keep off me tool when you’re the one defending, allowing you to reestablish your position. Assists that compliment Tomura would be any character that can help to lock the enemy down and create relentless pressure whether it be on a knockdown, or to create advantage. For example, you can use Aizawa, Muscular, Denki, Ochaco, or Todoroki, since all of them have great assists that can help Tomura to continue his plans and keep the opponent in check if they get too wild. Test the waters and see which ones work for your play style!
Final Thoughts
Tomura Shigaraki is certainly a force to be reckoned with, and in the right hands he can really be scary to deal with. When fighting against him, just make sure to maintain a strong defense and have assists that can help to counter his game-plan (funny enough, you can use Tomura against himself!). Once you lock him down, his defensive options are sort of lacking, so stay on him until he can no longer take the rush down! We hope you found this to be insightful and helpful on your journey to become the number one Hero! Next we will be taking a look at Stain!
