Overview
Now that we’ve covered the CQC and long range weapons that you can have fun with in PUBG, it’s about that time we go over the mid range weapons which play a very big role in this game. We decided to cover these weapons last because, unlike the other categories that cater to very specific situations the mid range tools tend to be quite versatile. Of course you could typically try and use long range weapons in Mid Range combat but what often happens is you run into guns which have faster rates of fire, and it can be hard to keep up with the more sophisticated Mid Range tools that can tear an enemy up quickly. So let’s take a closer look at which Mid Range guns will serve you well in PUBG and why they’re such a threat when you’re heading into mid-late game.
UMP9 [Submachine Gun]
As you may have already noticed the UMP9 has popped up quite frequently on our lists, and for pretty good reason. The UMP9 is a beginner friendly weapon that can teach newcomers to PUBG how to properly aim due to its relatively decent recoil control, but because it’s just an all around weapon that can be used in almost every situation. Whether you’re close range or mid range the UMP9 can deal with any enemy that tries to threaten you due to its incredibly fast rate of fire, quick reload times with the quick draw magazine attachment, and an assortment of other benefits. You never need to worry too much when you have the UMP9 in your secondary slot because it gets the job done and when you’re in a pinch come late game, it’s a game winning weapon. We’d recommend pairing this up with a sniper rifle such as the Kar98 since bolt-action rifles require a little more time to reload, so having the UMP9 to compensate for that can surely get you to safety no problem.
Honey's Pros:
- Amazing rate of fire.
- Beginner friendly and just an all around solid weapon.
- With the right attachments this gun is very powerful in almost any range.
Honey's Cons:
- Jack of all trades but master of none.
Kriss Vector [Submachine Gun]
Another submachine gun makes its appearance on the mid range list because well, submachine guns typically do very well in these types of scenarios. Not every SMG will do the job of course (Tommy Gun we’re looking at you) but one weapon in PUBG that rivals the UMP9 in terms of accuracy is the Kriss Vector otherwise known as the Vector. The Vector is a very straight forward gun that can rip anyone apart with the right attachments, but where it fails to compete against the UMP9 is its lack of ammunition storage. This gun has a wicked rate of fire and paired with its sharp accuracy, players will have a hard time running away but you’ll be out of ammo faster than the enemy which is a bad thing. Pop on an extended magazine to help alleviate the problem a little but even so, the Vector just runs out of gas so quickly that it can be risky to use in very tense situations where ammo plays a big role. We’d still recommend this weapon for newcomers to try out but we don’t expect you to be using it consistently like the other weapons on our list. If anything it’ll help you to learn how to control weapons with fast burst speed and recoil, but use it only when you feel you have no other major options around.
Honey's Pros:
- Rapid rate of fire.
- Pinpoint accuracy.
- Decent recoil
- 5 slots allow for great customization loadouts.
Honey's Cons:
- Runs of bullets fast which is never a good thing.
M416 [Assault Rifle]
Much like its M16A4 brethren, the M416 is a very powerful weapon in PUBG that can play different roles depending on the situation you’re in. Attach a scope to it and you have a nice makeshift sniper to tag enemies in the open, or grab a nice red dot sight and this becomes a strong mid ranged tool that can rip anyone to shreds. Since we covered the M16A4 in our long range article we thought giving the M416 the spotlight was important, just so that you can have a better understanding of their differences. Where the M16A4 tends to excel the M416 sort of lacks, for example its body impact power is 3,500 when compared to the M16A4’s 8,000 which is leaps and bounds better. It’s also a little slower in terms of time between shots which sits at 0.086s when compared to the M16A4’s 0.075s. It may not seem like a big difference but believe us, when you’re in the heat of battle every second counts and the M16A4 excels there.
So then why put the M416 on the mid range list if it’s slower than the M16A4? Well here’s where the M416 can hold its own. For starters, it has 5 slots for loadout customization when compared to the M16A4’s measly 3 and it has the ability to shoot in auto while the M16A4 can only perform single and burst shots. Burst shots fair better for long range assault to pick off enemies but in mid range scenarios, having a nice automatic assault rifle in hand with a ton of damage to match (41 base damage) can end the game very quickly. It’s bullet speed is only 20 points behind the M16A4 as well (880) meaning that you don’t have to lead your shots when shooting enemies, and your enemy will not have much time to respond if you’re aiming for the chest or higher.
Honey's Pros:
- Comes with more slots than the M16A4 which allows for more versatility.
- Solid fire power that can deal with enemies quickly.
- Comes with the auto option that its M16A4 brethren lacks.
Honey's Cons:
- Slightly slower in both bullet speed and body impact power.
Honey's Final Verdict:
This list is relatively shorter than our other lists because the other mid ranged options can be very hit and miss in most cases, and in a game like PUBG you don’t want to be taking unnecessary risks. As we’ve stated before in our articles we still suggest playing with every weapon so that you come to learn the mechanics of each one, since that will help to build your confidence in the long term. Just relying solely on the more popular guns in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds isn’t a great tactic to play around because let’s be honest, just about everyone else is aiming for them too. So if you really want an upper hand over the enemy in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, come to master every tool on the battlefield so you’ll be fearless with any weapon in your hand! Until next time, we hope you enjoyed this article! NualphaJPN signing out.
