What You Need to Know:
- Yesterday, the official Twitter for "Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru?" ("How heavy are the dumbbells you lift?") shared a celebratory image conmemorating that the live-action music video for the series' opening "Onegai Muscle" had surpassed 100M views! "Why?" You ask? Because it has great music, it's funny, and it's inspiring!
- "How heavy are the dumbbells you lift?" aired in Summer 2019 and follows Hibiki, a high school girl who wants to lose weight and get fit, and other girls from her school as they embark on a fitness journey involving weightlifting, guided by bodybuilder and trainer, Machio.
- In the live-action music video, real-life bodybuilders Reika Saiki (plays Hibiki) and Naotaka Yokokawa (plays Machio) basically do all the excercises in the opening, plus fitness modeling poses. The anime was inspiring enough, but seeing these 2 real-life athletes hit the weights with those big smiles and passion, really gets you pumped! Not to mention the song itself, "Onegai Muscle", is perfect for fitness with a high-tempo, motivating phrases, and high energy all the eay through!
- Check out the music video below if you haven't seen it yet, and if you want to get in shape like Hibiki and friends, one of our editors—who is also a fitness trainer and nutritionist—put together a fitness program based on all the moves covered in "How heavy are the dumbbells you lift?"!
Congratulations! It is such a good song, and they look so good working out!
Let's go lift some weights, Honey-chan! I'm pumped!
