Discussion Time

There are moments in manga reading where very little has to be said. Instead, the art shows and coveys the emotions that you end up seeing and feeling within your very heart. Boku no Hero Academia chapter 236 wasn’t a chapter filled with narrative yet with its few panels of words here and there, the imagery hit and it hit like a freight train. As we saw last chapter, Tenko ran from home and brought his dog with him. Well in chapter 236, Tenko’s Quirk finally appears and it causes the young boy to accidentally kill his pet. What’s worse is when Tenko’s sister arrives and tries to run a simple reach for her back and causes the Quirk to kill her as well. By the end of only a few panels, Tenko kills 90% of his family as he screams in confusion and frustration. Though the final kill—Tenko’s dad—we see was fully up to him and done out of rage and pain. The last few panels were so powerful with their art that we were left with chills when this chapter concluded. Needless to say, chapter 236 of Boku no Hero Academia is a quick 15 page read but the feeling you’ll have after reading it will stay for sometime.

Why You Should Read Boku no Hero Academia (My Hero Academia) Chapter 236

1. Tenko’s Pain

Tenko—now known as Tomura—was a young child confused and lost due to his original inability to understand why his Quirk wasn’t working and why his father seemed to despise him. After only two chapters worth of flashbacks, we see now Tenko’s internal struggle that led to rage becoming almost part of him. Gone was the young child who wanted to be a hero and behold Tomura the birth of pure decay and pain.

2. Let That Art Hit Hard!

Boku no Hero Academia is a beautiful manga series and we’ve always loved its fusion of eastern and western themes as it tries to be a comic book and manga. Besides that though, the biggest takeaway from Boku no Hero Academia is the art sometimes speaks volumes in of itself. Chapter 236 didn’t have hundreds of panels of dialogue or narrative, but instead, conveyed destruction and raw emotion with powerful images of a boy becoming a villain as he succumbs to madness. Bravo Boku no Hero Academia chapter 236, bravo.
