Fall is upon us and there is so much to enjoy! Good food, summer heat is abating, and of course, a brand new slew of anime. Usually, anime based on light novels, manga, and others are what get the spotlight. However, with a robust game market in Japan, more and more games are being adapted into anime and that includes mobile and console games! Today, we take a look at debuting anime from a different perspective to bring you these recommendations.

3. Gakuen BASARA

  • Episodes: October 4, 2018
  • Aired: TBA

Gakuen Basara takes us back to the popular Basara series, but with a twist. No longer will the bishounen of the series be fighting it out as feudal lords during the Sengoku Era, but rather, they are in class and struggling to come out on top. Well… Kinda… Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura are going at it in a hot battle. Not to mention, too, that Hideyoshi Toyotomi has just been suspended. While they may be warlords, at Gakuen Basara, they are nothing more than quibbling classmates fighting over things that most adults would roll their eyes over, but for anime viewers, it’s a sure shot at laughter. Yes, that’s right, Basara is back but this time, it’s comedic. Nothing serious here as we can expect familiar faces and antics, but off the battlefield and in the classroom. Not to mention, too, there is some strange event that is making romance blossom between students?! What can we expect? Who knows for sure, but catch the PV below!

2. Hangyakusei Million Arthur

  • Episodes: October 25, 2018
  • Aired: TBA

Let’s head on over to the hot Isekai genre for the next one. This game originally comes from Square Enix and is about a distorted flow of history due to the power of Excalibur. As each person pulls out the sword, since it’s not just one, they have become an amazing person in their own right. In fact, in this universe, there are over 1,000,000–yes, that was million–Arthurs. Deciding that they needed to do something about it, six Arthurs–along with their supporting fairies from six different worlds–travel back in time to meet up and break the other excalibur putting a stop to this absurd tale. The game was originally a hit for smartphones and after Lord of Vermillion: Guren no Ou from summer, Hangyakusei Million Arthur is the next one Square Enix put up. The good news, too, is that this is a split cours anime where one will air in the fall, and the sequel in the spring. If you are looking for fantasy, fighting, isekai, and magic, this is where to go.

1. Conception: Ore no Kodomo wo Undekure!

  • Episodes: October 10, 2018
  • Aired: TBA

Yeah, it’s probably as cheesy as you would expect. And no, this Conception anime is not related to Conception 2, which was better received, but rather the first which never was released outside of Japan. But hey, with what happened with Caligula, we probably can expect something remake friendly after this begins to air. The story is about Itsuki Yuge who–just like most viewers want–is summoned to another world facing a crisis at the hands of monsters known as Kegaru (stains). There, he needs to form bonds with 12 miko who each represent a constellation and have them “have his children”. The birth of these children will allow him to save the world. The game is originally a dungeon crawler, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out when it is adapted. A fun point of note is that Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu’s artist Shinichirou Otsuka signed on to provide original artwork for the series that the character designer Yousuke Okuda used. So the series more or less looks like Re:Zero. If you have played the game, then great! If not, well then check out the PV below!
