What You Need to Know:

  • The world of Japan is full of good news this weekend, as it was officially announced via Square Enix's YouTube channel, that the incredibly popular and classic DS RPG title, The World Ends With You, will officially receive an anime adaption! The anime will air in 2021 according to the trailer and the official title for the anime is: The World Ends with You the Animation (Subarashiki Kono Sekai The Animation).
  • Kazuya Ichikawa, the director behind Monster Strike the Animation, will be directing this anime, while Midori Gotou will be the screenwriter. Tetsuya Nomura and Gen Kobayashi will be in charge of the character designs. DOMERICA along with Shin-Ei Animation will be the ones producing it all. In addition to this, it was also confirmed that the anime will take place in the current Shibuya and not the 2007 version as depicted in the original title. Ichikawa also mentioned that while some parts of the anime will be changed to reflect the anime, other pieces of information have not yet been confirmed.
  • Fans will be excited to know that the same seiyuu that originally voiced Neku in the game will be reprising their role! Kouki Uchiyama is returning to the franchise to bring life to Neku. Anna Hachimine will play as Shiki, Subaru Kimura as Beat, Ayana Taketatsu as Rhyme, and Ryohei Kimura as Joshua.
