Introduction
No matter what season it is, you know it wouldn’t be a true anime season without ecchi and harem series to watch. While getting a nosebleed might be bad for stamina, you can’t help but want to see beautiful ladies all vying for one guy, or seeing lovely oppai bouncing about. This season even had some rather “unique” ecchi series that definitely were aimed at specific audiences out there. We had a lot of expectations for this ecchi/harem Spring 2019, but were our original thoughts on point and did we make some good calls in terms of what shows to watch/avoid? We are about to find out in another Expectation Vs. Reality: How Ecchi & Harem Anime in Spring 2019 Faired article!
1. Araiya-san! ~Ore to Aitsu ga Onnayu de!?~
- Genres: Ecchi, Romance
- Air Date: April 8, 2019
‘Is this really part of the massage?’
Sota is working part-time as a bathhouse staff attendant as his family run bathhouse when he goes to wash the back of his classmate, a girl named Aoi, who has concealed whom she is. Normally, this would go from a grudge to a sexual harassment claim, but as the massage continues, he realizes that Aoi has feelings for him! As he touches her warm body, she realizes that it’s Sota who is touching her! This romcom about two awkward young people begins just beyond the beckoning of a split curtain.
What We Got:
Sota has just begun working part-time at a local bathhouse when something peculiar happens: Sota’s classmate Aoi enters and, without meaning to, he ends up giving her a massage! As the massages commence, Sota learns that Aoi just so happens to have feelings for him! What will Sota do in this strange romance comedy where massages lead to feelings of love?!
Borderline hentai, Araiya-san! ~Ore to Aitsu ga Onnayu de!?~ is both hilarious and truly ecchi. Our initial thoughts of this series were it was just going to be a mindless ecchi with some themes of comedy and a slight dusting of romance. By the end, we were actually surprised our thoughts were spot on. Araiya-san! ~Ore to Aitsu ga Onnayu de!?~ isn’t a bad show to watch for our more mature audience, and having each episode be only 3 minutes makes it an easy binge. Just don’t expect this show to do anything the genre hasn’t done before.

2. Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!?
- Genres: Romcom, Ecchi
- Air Date: April 8, 2019
Why are you here…!?
Regardless of time or place, a teacher and male high school student always find themselves in dangerously loaded situations.
The more he sees this teacher overflowing with mature appeal and various emotions, the cuter he finds her. This is his story of a sweet yet relaxed high school life with cute teachers finding themselves in extreme situations.
What We Got:
It’s always important to knock twice before entering a room, and there’s a reason many should learn this lesson before they end up regretting it later. Ichirou Satou has unfortunately made the mistake of not heeding this rule of the land and ends up in a strange predicament with his teacher! From one perverted moment to another, Satou is about to find out love can be truly strange… especially when your teacher gets involved.
There have been a million rom-coms with student-teacher relationships in the anime world, but none have ever been as ridiculous and ecchi as Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!? This series by Tear Studio sounded outrageous when we first heard about it, and by the third episode was still quite outlandish. However, we predicted good things from this show and found that Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!? delivered even if it won’t go down as the best ecchi series around. If you want some good-looking ladies to gawk at in some rather provocative scenes, go check out Nande Koko ni Sensei ga!? and you won’t be complaining.

3. Nobunaga Sensei no Osanazuma
- Genres: Romcom, Sci-fi
- Air Date: April 9, 2019
‘One day suddenly, a girl will appear who is in love with me.’
A teacher named Nobunaga continued to dream about a setup that’s right out of a galge.
That’s when a 14-year-old girl named Kichou appears in front of him claiming to be his wife. She appears to have come from the Warring States period and has mistaken Nobunaga for the famous historical figure Oda Nobunaga. She then starts pressing him to conceive children with her…!?
This romcom of a couple with a big fat age difference between a teacher obsessed with galge and a girl obsessed with the Warring States.
What We Got:
Nobunaga Oda might have been a famous name during the Sengoku period, but now the person with that name is just an average middle school teacher. Oda’s days of normality though come to a screeching halt when Kichou Saitou, a new student arrives. Claiming she’s from the Sengoku era, Saitou wants Oda to marry her and have her child! What will Oda do now as he tries to avoid a sexual scandal with not only a 14-year-old but his own student?!
Oh, taboo anime, how we come to have mixed feelings about you! Nobunaga-sensei no Osanazuma is clearly a show aimed at fans of the comedy/ecchi series that tend to have taboo themes, so we knew this show wouldn’t appeal to all. Crafted by studio Seven, Nobunaga-sensei no Osanazuma didn’t really appeal to us much here at Honey’s Anime, and the end product kept to our expectations. Luckily, at only 7 minutes per episode, this isn’t a hard show to watch and then judge harshly if you love to do that. Nobunaga-sensei no Osanazuma wasn’t a series we expected much from, and thus the reality of it being mediocre didn’t surprise us.

4. Miru Tights

- Genres: Ecchi, Slice of Life
- Air Date: May 11, 2019
April. Rainy morning. Pelted by new rain, falling sakura petals collect in puddles of water and float. Multicolored umbrellas from students pass through the entrance gates of a high school.
‘Morning, Ren.’
Yua, with her soaked tights, speaks to Ren at the lockers in the front of the school. Ren turns towards her looking depressed while Homi, soaked to the bone, comes over and the conversation becomes lively. The silly conversations of these three girls announces the arrival of a new semester to their classroom.
While their thoughtless conversation passes, the seasons begin to change.
What We Got:
The spring month of April is known for its beautiful cherry blossoms and spring rains. Male and females enjoy their school days as blissfully as they can as the winter weather begins to give away to warmer futures. When the rain hits though, those unaware of its approach find themselves drenched and some clothing gets a bit… tighter. Tights on a girl are just one of these bits of clothing that get soaked and end up becoming a truly fascinating sight to some. But for most, these elements of grandeur are lost and school just remains normal…
Miru Tights is a series aimed at those who love tights, that should be painfully aware from the previews and the actual series. When the anime community heard of Miru Tights, our faces probably did some rather strange motions and expressions. Miru Tights is silly and from the gate we’d knew this isn’t a series you’d take to be serious. If you are an ecchi fan and love girls in skin caressing tights —that get wet quite often— then you’ll love Miru Tights, and probably found your thoughts on the series matched how the series is going even right now.
