Synopsis

Evangelion is finally coming to an end.

Starting in 2007, it was rebooted as the β€œEvangelion: New Theatrical Edition” series and split up into three films so far, Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance and Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo. The fourth and final film of the series, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time has now been finalized.

Evangelion’s themes of β€œWhat is the essence of a person?” and β€œWhy do people live?” are universal questions that apply to every generation. Shinji, Rei, Asuka, and Mari are all characters brimming with individuality, and as they pilot the artificial Evangelions, they search for new ways of living.

Striving to recreate the epic worldbuilding of the original, the creators make full use of the latest digital technology. With updated animations and visuals, beautiful designs and colors, and character expressions full of emotion, they are bound to touch your heart.

Hideaki Anno, the director of the recent blockbuster Shin Godzilla, which grossed over 8 billion yen at the box office, has a unique style of storytelling that is fast-paced, compelling, and rich in content. Director Anno has now returned to his origins in the animation field with new concepts and feelings, ready to tell us the rest of the story that has been sealed away ever since Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo was released in 2012.

In its first appearance in 1995, the TV series Neon Genesis Evangelion became a social phenomenon, drawing interest from not only anime fans but artists and scholars alike. Now, after 25 years, we will be able to see Eva, which has continued to be a major influence in the world of animation, through to the very end.
